CIRCLEVILLE TREE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES 5-9-2024
Circleville Tree Commission convened a meeting on Thursday, May 9, 2024, in Council Chambers,
127 South Court St, at 6:00 pm. Roll call. Present: Chair Roman Cline; VC Beth Kowalski; Alan
Gribler, Lori Prichard, Laura Schweitzer, and Sheri Theis, Council Liaison. Clerk Linda Chancey.
Absent: Lisa Wiseman and Mark Fouch. Guests present – Doug Baker and Superintendent Chris
Cupp.
Roman Cline opened the meeting with roll call. Roman Cline motioned to approve April 11, 2024,
minutes. VC Kowalski seconded. Motion carried. Lori Pritchard motioned to approve the April 11,
2024, minutes, Laura Schweitzer seconded. Motion carried.
Discussion items.
a. Budget $10 K -R. Cline explained the remaining budget is $6,000, expenses were $3,900
for tree orders and supplies.
b. Remaining – there are six bushes in the park that need to be planted or returned.
c. Spring Planting – was April 26th.
d. Evergreen trees purchase - Ted Lewis Park list from Paul Hang,
1. Acorn is a secondary choice to purchase trees, Rhoads Market will locate and tag
the trees to purchase.
e. Two outstanding trees - (Monce and Winget). Gribler will check on.
f. Main Street Tree Order
1. Needs twenty-three trees to finish tree planting downtown.
2. Cupp stated there are no objections to businesses wanting planters, Chris Cupp has
a list of businesses that want trees. Also, need to follow up with J. Bialy for planters.
3. ARPA funds will be used to help with tree costs.
g. Purchase & install trees - Urban and Community Forestry-Grant –
1. Focus on trees for this grant are where to plant and how many.
2. Hire a part time arborist and form a selection cmte to interview.
h. Tree City USA
1. B. Kowalski motioned to order twenty Tree City caps. L. Pritchard seconded.
Motioned carried.
2. L. Pritchard motioned to order five Tree City signs. Kowalski seconded. Motioned
carried. B. Kowalski will order the Tree City signs.
Urban and Community Forestry-Grant.
Still in process.
Tree City Ceremony - Thursday, May 9th – no one attended this event.
Any other business - Next meeting Thursday, June 13th at 6:00 p.m.
L. Pritchard motioned to adjourn the meeting at 6:57 p.m., B. Kowalski seconded. Motion carried.

The Tree Commission creates and maintains a comprehensive plan for the care, preservation, pruning,
planting, replacement, maintenance and removal of trees and shrubs in the public streets, rights-of-way,
parks, cemeteries, public schools, and other city-owned property.
Call meeting to order with Roll call.
