(The Bearcat) > Chiefnoted CFR donated 7 sets ofold extrication equipment to County Fire. > Chief opened the floor fol questions. > Councilperon Renyolds asked about the overall staffing levels. > Chief stated 6 just graduated from the Academy and CFR currently has 9 vacancies. He said the next Academy should be around May 2nd. > Councilperson Reynolds asked what was the age limit for retirement. > Chief replied age 60. > Councilperson Hollimao asked what the extrication equipment was. > Chief stated it is hydlaulic rescue tools (Jaws of Life). > Councilperson Holliman asked if there was a special ceremony for the promotions. > Chief stated it is held in the training room. Their family is invited to attend tJre ceremony. BUILDING & CODES DEPARTMENT: o David Smith spoke on behalf of Building and Codes. > He reviewed the previously submitted monthly report. > He noted ttre payments for the permits would go up due to a Gas & Water Project for $90,000 dollars. > I{e noted on average 23 to 24 inspections per ernployee. > Mr. Smith opened the floor for questions. > Councilpelson Reynolds asks about stafftng levels. > Ml. Smith replied the employees are certified and can take on multiple trades while on site. He will not be asked for additional ernployees in the upcoming year. > Councialpersen Reynolds asked what the standard was for single family homes, > Mr. Smith went over the 4 different trades for impection. > Councilperson Reynolds asked about the 2018 Fire codes. > Mr. Srnith stated the 2018 Fire Code will be in place for the next 6 years. POLICE DEPARTMENT: o Chief David Crockarell spoke on behalfofthe Police Department. > He reviewed the previously submitted monthly report. > He stated with the census results 15 more will need to be hircd each year tl:rough2026 to get to officer ratio. The national average per thousand is 2.2 > He discussed the need for staff and the cost that comes with hiring additional offrcers. > Coincilperson Allen asked if there was a retention on how many years a new offrcer has to stay with the deparlment. > Chief Crockarell stated it exists but is not implemented.
