Zoom Meeting
Attendance: Wes Powell, Dottie Mann, Alexandra Wills, Ron Erb, Eddie Combs and Kathrine

1. City Forester update. Kathrine announced that her department has planted two Memorial
Trees as well as replaced two sweetgums on Franklin St. and one Zelkova at the the
Downtown overlook. Also, The TAEP grant trees will be planted over the next two
weeks at Trice landing. Kathrine will get photos for social media posts.
2. The Board has purchased two cherry trees to add to the arboretum for our Arbor Day
Celebration
3. The city’s Arbor Day celebration will be held on Nov 13th at 11 am in Liberty Park. Wes
went over the itinerary for the event. John Woodcock with TN Forestry will be at the
celebration to present Arbor Day Foundation Recognitions. Parking will be near the boat
trailer parking. We will not do a press release prior to the event in order to keep the
numbers small. The press release will go out after the event.
4. Dottie is writing a memorial and recognition of service for Tracy Jackson. She will read
this at the celebration.
5. Wes showed the board the previous draft of the Tree Board Logo. It was discussed to
remove the ‘C’ from the center to allow more room for additional tree shapes. Also add
the establishment date of 1989.
6. Eddie Combs with CDE said that they would be happy to chip Christmas trees at
Heritage Park again this year. We will send out press releases and social media pushes
immediately following the December meeting.
7. Wes started the discussion of doing another art contest in the spring of 2021. The board
decided to have the theme be Trees and their Benefits to our Health. Art should be on 8
1/2” x 11” paper or card stock. Art will be scanned and emailed to the board for judging.
Katie will check to see is they can be sent through Parks and Recreation web site.
Contest will be available for to grades K-5 in Montgomery County. Judging Criteria are
Originality, Creativity, and Illustration of Theme. Art should have student’s name, school
and grade in the lower right hand corner of the paper.
With no further business the meeting was adjourned.

2:30: Call to order—Wes Powell
Motion: “In order to comply with the technical aspects of the Governor’s Executive
Order regarding holding open meetings in a forum other than in the open and in public, the
Clarksville Tree Board determines that meeting electronically is necessary to protect the health,
safety, and welfare of the citizens due to the COVID-19 outbreak.”
Adoption of minutes from previous meeting.
