MINUTES REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY OF CLEVELAND BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS TUESDAY, JULY 14, 2015 AT 12:00 PM CLEVELAND MUNICIPAL BUILDING 190 CHURCH STREET NE The regular meeting of the Board of Zoning Appeals was called to order by Charlotte Jones, Chairman at 12:04pm. Members present included Charlotte Jones, Dan Moore, Clint Taylor and Ed Brown. Members absent included Steve Wright. Staff present included Corey Divel, Senior Planner. Legal Counsel present included John Kimball, Attorney for the City of Cleveland. Other present were Joyanna Love of the Cleveland Daily Banner, Buddy Simpkins, Hampton Patel, N. Patel and Sam Patel. The minutes of the regular meeting on June 9, 2015 were presented for approval. Clint Taylor made a motion to approve and Dan Moore seconded the motion. A vote of 4-0 passed the motion. There were no public hearings There was no old business. In new business a. Request by Bani Vani Hospitality for a sign variance at 130 Interstate Dr NW (Tax Map 41G Group D Parcels 10.00) in the CG zoning district. Hampton Patel spoke regarding the necessity of a larger sign face and that it was the same size as the existing signs of the adjacent hotels. Buddy Simpkins, previous owner of the Wingate Hotel, spoke in favor of the variance and explained the size was necessary in order to get the necessary read time. The limited read time and visibility due to the geography of the interstate were also discussed. Dan Moore made a motion to approve the variance request. Ed Brown seconded the motion. Motion carried with a 4-0 vote. There were no staff reports. There were no board member reports. The meeting adjourned at 12:18.
