MINUTES Village of Cobb – Personal Property Committee Meeting Village Office, Wednesday, June 25, 2025 4:43 p.m.-5:28 p.m. Committee Members Attending: Kristen Schoville*, Alisha Martin, Liz Lenz, and Alaina Benton (alternate) Committee Member Absent: Staff Present: Village Clerk/Treasurer – Carley Rider Kris Schoville called the Personal Property Committee Meeting to Order at 4:43 p.m. Roll call was taken. Public Notices: MOTION (Martin, Lenz): motion carried by unanimous voice vote to approve posting and compliance of the open meeting law. Chicken Ordinance: Discussion occurred regarding potentially updating village ordinances to allow chickens. The board noted that currently, only citizens in Rural Development zoning can have chickens per the current ordinances. Requirements for a chicken permit were discussed. The committee requested clerk Carley Rider reach out the Zoning Administrator, Scott Jelle, to see if there were any fees that would be imposed on the Village for allowing chickens. Discussion regarding requirements included coop approval by the Zoning Administrator, acknowledging neighbors were notified, $25 initial application fee, $25 annual fee, following a similar ordinance to the City of Dodgeville, using the Village of Montfort check sheet and application as a guide. Application requirements discussed included notating desired location of coop, design of coop, site number and copy registration of with the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, MOTION (Lenz, Martin); motion carried by unanimous voice vote to recommend to the Village Board to begin the process to allow chickens in the Village of Cobb.
