MONTHLY MEETING OF THE COHOES CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION November 6, 2019 Present: Rose Vohs, Chairperson Sandy Bonkoski, Commissioner Peter Kusaywa, Commissioner Carol Ratigan, Secretary to the Commission MONTHLY MINUTES – Council Chambers Meeting called to order Rose Vohs, seconded by Sandy Bonkoski at 6:03 p.m. REVIEW OF MINUTES – Monthly Meeting of 9/5/19 Rose Vohs asked if there were any corrections or additions to the above minutes. Peter Kusaywa made a motion to approve the minutes as published. Sandy Bonkoski seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. REVIEW OF MINUTES – Special Meeting of 9/18/19 Rose Vohs asked if there were any corrections or additions to the above minutes. Rose Vohs made a motion to approve the minutes as published. Sandy Bonkoski seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. REVIEW OF MINUTES – Monthly Meeting of 10/9/19 Rose Vohs asked if there were any corrections or additions to the above minutes. Sandy Bonkoski made a motion to approve the minutes as published. Peter Kusaywa seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. REVIEW OF NON-COMPETITIVE EMPLOYMENT APPLICATIONS* Blaine Shafer – Teacher Aide Kaeliannah Waldron – Teacher Aide REVIEW OF PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENTS – Examinations to be requested within 30 days of appointments* AnneMarie Potts – Secretary to the Chief of Police - City Kathleen Kuhn – School Safety Officer – School District Joseph Seman-Graves – Planner – City UPDATE OF OFFICE FILE REVIEW Carol Ratigan updated the Commissioners on the city payroll certification and office records review. NEW BUSINESS Fire Lieutenant Robert Johnson addressed the commission regarding the provisional appointment of Captain William Carlson. Mr. Johnson was seeking guidance on how to request a NCP examination for Mr. Carlson. Carol Ratigan agreed to email Mr. Johnson the details on how to make such a request to the appointing authority. EXECUTIVE SESSION TO DISCUSS A PERSONNEL MATTER Rose Vohs made a motion to enter executive session. Sandy Bonkoski seconded the motion. Motion carried. Sandy Bonkoski made a motion to come out of executive session. Peter Kusaywa seconded the motion. Motion carried. Commissioners request Carol Ratigan to coordinate a meet and greet with Acting Mayor Brigss and Incoming Mayor William Keeler. Next meeting scheduled for Wednesday, 12/11/19. Carol Ratigan to make a quorum call. Motion to adjourn made by Rose Vohs. Seconded by Peter Kusaywa. Motion passed unanimously.
