SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COHOES CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION December 30, 2019 Present: Rose Vohs, Chairperson Sandy Bonkoski, Commissioner Peter Kusaywa, Commissioner Carol. Ratigan, Secretary Invited Guest: Brian Kremer, City Attorney MONTHLY MINUTES – Room 20 (Due to a last minute room conflict, meeting was moved to Room 20. Notification of this change was placed on both doors of the council chambers). Rose Vohs asked if there was a motion to call the meeting to order. Sandy Bonkoski made the motion, seconded by Peter Kusaywa at 6:03 p.m. REQUEST TO ADDRESS COMMISSION BY POLICE OFFICER UNION Officer’s Joseph Murphy and Joseph Sorel addressed the Commission regarding the recent situation pertaining to police appointments and promotions at it relates to the paperwork review by New York State Civil Service. Officer Murphy stated that the union was gathering documents they hold in the department that may be relevant and helpful to the issues at hand. Officer Murphy stated that they would share their documents with their legal counsel at Council 82 who in turn would share relevant documents with city attorney Brian Kremer and Carol Ratigan. EXECUTIVE SESSION TO DISCUSS A CERTAIN PERSONNEL MATTER Sandy Bonkoski made a motion to enter executive session 6:09 p.m. Peter Kusaywa seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. Sandy Bonkoski made a motion to come out of executive session 7:06 p.m. Peter Kusaywa seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS Next meeting scheduled for Thursday, 1/9/2020. Carol Ratigan to make a quorum call. Motion to adjourn made by Rose Vohs. Seconded by Sandy Bonkoski. Motion passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned 7:10 p.m.
