COMMON COUNCIL MEETING Tuesday, January 28, 2025 - 7:00 P.M. Common Council Chambers Roll call was taken. PRESENT: UNEXCUSED: Mayor Keeler Council Member Trudeau Council President Biggs Council Member Izzo Council Member Higgins Council Member Soloyna Council Member McCarthy Public Comment: Sean VanSleet- watched news Channel 10 report on the Water Treatment Plant and would like to know if there is an update. He heard Waterford stopped getting water from Cohoes. Mayor says when their official called the water treatment plant and asked if there was a leak we said yes, so they temporarily stopped getting water from Cohoes. The Mayor said if there were any danger we would have put our information out. Mayor says the 2 pumps that went down in December were a separate issue. Sean VanSleet asks was the problem fixed, is there still a leak? Mayor says the problem was fixed in minutes and yes there is still a leak it will be repaired in the spring when the ground thaws. Sean VanSleet says his wife does not feel safe drinking the water from Cohoes. He asked if our water has fluoride added? Mayor says fluoride is not added. Sean VanSleet said thanks for the update. Gil Either- I don’t get my information from the news I would rather ask our Council. How many calls have you all taken regarding this water crisis issue? Council Member Higgins is the only one who had 3 calls. Approve minutes of the June 25th, July 23rd, November 26th, December 10th, 2024 meetings. Resolution No. 1 for the year 2025 A Resolution amending the annual budget for Fiscal Year 2025. Council President Biggs made a MOTION to approve Resolution No.1 for the year 2025. Seconded by Council Member McCarthy. All members voted “AYE.” The motion passed. Resolution No. 2 for the year 2025 A Resolution designating The Record as the official newspaper of the City of Cohoes. Council Member Higgins made a MOTION to approve Resolution No.2 for the year 2025. Seconded by Council Member Izzo. All members voted “AYE.” The motion passed. Resolution No. 3 for the year 2025 A Resolution designating the depositories for the funds of the City of Cohoes. Council Member Soloyna made a MOTION to approve Resolution No.3 for the year 2025. Seconded by Council Member Higgins. All members voted “AYE.” The motion passed. Resolution No.4 for the year 2025 A Resolution approving agreement for Snow Emergency Towing Services. Council President Biggs made a MOTION to approve Resolution No.4 for the year 2025. Seconded by Council Member Soloyna. All members voted “AYE.” The motion passed. Resolution No.5 for the year 2025 A Resolution accepting an award and authorizing the Mayor to execute an agreement under the New York State Department of Transportation Bridge NY Funds. Council Member Higgins made a MOTION to approve Resolution No.5 for the year 2025. Seconded by Council Member Izzo. All members voted “AYE.” The motion passed. Resolution No.6 for the year 2025 A Resolution accepting state and municipalities grant from the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York for the Purchase and Installation of Surveillance Cameras. Council Member Soloyna made a MOTION to approve Resolution No.6 for the year 2025. Seconded by Council Member Higgins. All members voted “AYE.” The motion passed. At 7:38 PM Council President Biggs made a MOTION to adjourn. Council Member Higgins seconded the motion.
