Finance Committee

Finance Committee Meeting October 3, 2022 6:00 PM The Finance Committee was called to order at 6:00 PM by Mayor Schmidt. In attendance were O’Brien, T Schmidt, Baumgartner, Hesgard, Hederer and Kaiser. Also present were Clerk Gurtner and DPW Higley. Clerk Gurtner started by reviewing the entire 2023 budget with the committee. The proposed property tax levy for 2023 is $686,957. The general fund budget deficit is $82,110 and the capital expenditures is an addition deficit $510,100. The current increase in the general fund expenditures is 8.82% and to qualify the expenditure restraints, the city must cut about $25,000 in expenditures. Items that could be cut from the budget were discussed including mapping, comprehensive plan and crushing granite. Motion was made by Hesgard, seconded by Schmidt to cut crushing by $27,500, mapping $10,000 and sidewalks $4,000. Motion carried with a voice vote.
