Approval of Meeting Minutes Motion: To approve the February 26, 2015 Animal Welfare Committee meeting minutes. Moved: Co-Chair Nagle Second: Co-Chair McNamee Aye: Unanimous Nay: 0 Abstain: 0 II. ACO Report The AWC account balance is$10, 750; veterinary service expenditures total $2,882; the balance for animal control cost recovery is $2,790. III. Shelter/Adoption Report Adoptions: 4 cats Intake: 2 cats Petco: 3 cats  Three guinea pigs were picked up in College Park Woods and were sent to Metropolitan Guinea Pig Rescue.  One dog was picked up from the College Park Animal Hospital by one of their clients in Hyattsville; he went to the County Shelter.  There are currently no animals at the College Park shelter. 1 IV. College Park Strategic Plan for 2020 The AWC has been requested to provide comments on the strategic plan. The following comments were briefly discussed:  Goal 2 – Community Engagement – include information on the City’s Adoption Program  Goal 4 – Growth and Development – working toward the North County Shelter  Goal 5 – Resilient and Quality Infrastructure – a dog park; current shelter should be a priority or the North County Shelter should be operational by 2020  Goal 6 – Council Priority Staff Secession Plan – expand plan to provide backup for the ACO  Goal 7 – Excellent Services (2020 Council Priority 7D) – AWC supports North County Shelter V. College Park Review of Boards and Commissions Co-Chair Nagle stated that the AWC has not yet been scheduled to be reviewed by the City Council; probably not until May 2015. VI. Report to City Council AWC members will add more information to be included in the Report to the City Council. VII. AWC Activities  Maryland Day (April 25)  Greenbelt Pet Expo (June 6 from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.) – AWC will participate VIII. Other Business  ACO Cooper will be out of town from March 26 to April 14, 2015. Animals picked up will be taken to the County Shelter.  The AWC brochure put together by Ms. Gailes will be reviewed at the April meeting.  Co-Chair Nagle will submit the edited AWC webpage.  Co-Chair Nagle will check on the AWC 2016 budget request.  The Sheltering Magazine subscription has been placed ($20/year).  A task force consisting of representatives from each of the various municipalities has been established in regard to the feasibility study for the proposed North County Shelter. IX. Adjournment The AWC meeting adjourned at 7:36 p.m. The next AWC meeting is scheduled for April 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Davis Hall.
