Reviewed tonight’s agenda. Mr. Turley made a motion to accept the agenda. Ms. Macknis seconded the motion. All in favor; no opposed. 2. Reviewed the September 28, 2017 minutes. Mr. Turley made a motion to accept the minutes. Ms. Rodeffer seconded the motion. All in favor; no opposed. 3. Ms. Cooper reported as follows: a. AWC fund balance is $12,436. The deputy director of finance was not aware of the transfer to funds that was approved at the September 28 meeting. Ms. Cooper stated that he will make the transfer and this will be reported at the next meeting. b. Vet Services are $5331. c. Animal Control Cost recovery is $675. d. The poodle fund collection is $850.79. Includes money received from Blaze Pizza fundraiser. e. TNR expenses is $1010 lifetime; $500 has been spent in FY18. f. There were no intakes of any animals. g. Adoption Report i. Liriope, Calliope and Orb h. Fosters/Petco i. 2 black kittens with Ms. Rodeffer ii. Gus (at Petco) iii. Jelly (puppy) with Ms. Rodeffer Ms. Rodeffer stated that Jelly has found a family and will be finalizing the adoption paperwork with Ms. Cooper on Friday. She also stated that the 2 black kittens have found a family and she should be finalizing the adoption paperwork this weekend. Ms. Cooper stated that she had a message from Ms. Stange that she believes Gus may also have found a new family. There are currently no animals in the shelter.  4. Discussed Farmer’s Market - Tricks N Treats” with microchipping is scheduled for this Saturday, October 28 at the Hollywood Farmer’s Market. The animal parade will take place from 11am- 11:30am. Pictures will be taken of all animals in costume. AWC will not be present at either market in November. 5. Discussed the feral cat colonies and how the committee can assist: a. Julie Cooney has been trying to trap the cats in Autoville. She has successfully trapped at least four or five and they have been taken to Spay Now. The TNR grant is paying for these invoices at Spay Now. Mr. Braunstein is continuing to feed the cats. b. Patuxent Avenue. Hannah Shaw has trapped and TNR at least 12 cats and possibly an additional three cats. There seems to be 2 pregnant cats and 2 more kittens. The neighbors are moving the food to backyard areas, however, Ms. Cooper has seen a gentleman dump cat food on Mr. Thomas’ driveway. c. A letter from the City was sent out to all AWC members from citizens on trapping feral cats. The response is attached. 6. Ms. Rodeffer shared that a free cat house is available with free delivery if we have any residents, especially those with outdoor and/or feral cats. Residents can contact Ms. Rodeffer for more information. 7. The committee still needs to send a letter to Mayor and Council supporting the Beagle Freedom Bill. Ms. DeWalt volunteered to draft a letter by the end of November for the committee to review and edit. 8. Ms. D’Alexander is working with Terps for Animals student committee. The student committee would like to get involved with the Animal Welfare Committee. Mr. Brennan invited them to attend. 9. Crazy Kabob is amenable to doing a fundraiser on a Monday or Wednesday for AWC. The committee suggested that we choose a date in February. 10. Ms. D’Alexander discussed Good Neighbor Day on April 7, 2018. She will forward all information to Mr. Brennan and he will share with the AWC. 11. The committee thanked Ms. Cooper for all of her hard work and efforts throughout the summer and early fall with all of the animals we have seen in the shelter, fostering and at Petco. Her efforts did not go unnoticed. 12. The November 23 meeting is cancelled; it falls on Thanksgiving. The December 28 meeting is re-scheduled for December 7, 2017 at 7:00pm at Davis Hall. The committee has decided to have a potluck at this meeting. Mr. Turley made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Ms. Macknis seconded the motion. All in favor; no opposed.
