The meeting was called to order at 7:31pm by Ms. Bellamy, Co-Chair.
1. The agenda was reviewed, and a motion was made by Ms. Rodeffer to accept it. Ms. Butler seconded the
motion. Motion carries 8-0-0.
2. July 23, 2020 minutes were reviewed. A motion was made by Ms. Stange to accept the minutes as
presented. Ms. Booth seconded the motion. Motion carries 8-0-0.
3. AWC Report from Mr. Ryan:
a. AWC Donation Account – $10,741.39. No monies have been spent.
b. The new fiscal year has started. The were no changes made to the AWC budget for this fiscal year in any
of the line items. Ms. DeWalt did inquire as to whether the contract secretary wages were coming out
of the AWC budget as other committees have reported the salary coming from a different budget for
this fiscal year. This was for the committee’s awareness. Mr. Ryan indicated he would inquire and let
the committee know.
c. Mayor and Council will be reviewing the recommendations on the code revision in October. Mr. Ryan
will find out the exact date and share with the committee.
4. Mr. Ryan introduced Rebecca Bailey, the new Animal Control Officer. She started with the City of College
Park about two weeks ago. Her schedule is Monday – Friday from 12:00 Noon until 8:30pm. She was most
recently with Anne Arundel County as the Animal Control Officer. It was suggested that a Welcome Notice is
posted on the weekly bulletin as well as the City’s website. Mr. Ryan indicated that the City’s Communication
Coordinator is working on the announcement. The committee warmly welcomed Ms. Bailey.
5. Ms. Stange updated on Petco. The habitat has been open for about 30 days. The store is aware of the hiring
of Ms. Bailey and is ready to accept cats/kitten back into the habitat for adoption.
6. Municipal Scene Articles
a. October – Potential diseases and available remedies/medicines – Suzie Bellamy
7. Ms. Bellamy asked about the status of the $1000 for the Greenbelt CART and the MOU. Mr. Ryan indicated
that he would once again follow up with the City Attorney for a response.
8. The next virtual meeting will be on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at 7:30pm.
Ms. Stange made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Second by Mr. Turley. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00pm.
