seconded the motion. Motion carries 9-0-0.
2. January 28, 2021 minutes were reviewed. A motion was made by Ms. Stange to accept the
minutes with the amended cat name and grammatical corrections. Ms. Bellamy seconded
the motion. Motion carries 10-0-0.
3. AWC Report from Ms. Bailey was sent out via email prior to the meeting. (NB – there was no
update on budget amount).
Other items reviewed:
a. There are no animals in the shelter or in Petco. Ms. Bailey stated she reached out to
several county shelters, but there did not seem to be any cats available who might fit
the Petco profile. Members were encouraged to email Ms. Bailey with suggestions of
rescue groups or other shelter who may have availability.
b. The foster application has been drafted. It needs to be reviewed by the City attorney.
c. Ms. Bailey is working on SOPs for shelter volunteers.
d. No update from Greenbelt on the MOU or CART. The City is still working through the
loss of one of their police officers.
4. Municipal Scene Articles. A reminder that the articles are due to Ms. Bailey, and copy Ms.
Rodeffer and Ms. Bellamy, by the 10th of the previous month for which your article is written.
For example, April’s article will be due on March 10th.
a. April – Steps to take and who to call when you have lost an animal – Ms. Butler
b. May – Keeping cats inside – Ms. Stullich and Mr. Hall
c. June – Parasites, fleas, ticks, heart worms – Ms. Stullich and Mr. Hall
5. Mr. Ryan will discuss with the City Coordinator about potential access for the ACO to
NextDoor. In the interim, if you see a posting on NextDoor for College Park, please cut and
paste the article and email it to Ms. Bailey.
6. Ms. Bailey will speak to the Riverdale Veterinary Clinic about possibly helping with the rabies
clinic, which is hoped to be scheduled in late summer/early fall. Setting up appointments for
Microchips will be further discussed at the March meeting.
7. Ideas for how to educate the community at large, who may not have internet access, on the
animal welfare, translating brochure/information into Spanish, signage at the dog parks, etc.
Ms. Rodeffer will invite Ryna Quinones, City Coordinator.
8. Ms. Bellamy mentioned that a great book about President Biden’s dogs called “Champ and
Major” is available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble for $17.95.
9. The next virtual meeting will be on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 7:30pm.
