2. The July 14, 2021 minutes were reviewed. Mr. Hew motioned to accept the minutes and Mr.
Sauer seconded. Motion carries for approval 7-0-0.
3. City Report. Ms. Alexander reported the following:
a. Ms. Alexander spoke to Ernst Seeds regarding the Cherokee Street pollinator planting.
There is a two-week turnaround for delivery. Ordering of one pound of seeds will be
done in October and this could be done as a Good Neighbor Day project in November.
There will most likely be seeds left over that could be used in the permaculture garden.
Prepping of the soil will need to be done. Ernst Seeds recommends mixing seeds with
kitty litter to spread them easier. Weeds will need to be removed from the area.
4. No Mow Month. Mr. Hew sent an email to the committee with a draft letter and draft briefing to
send to Mayor and Council. Committee members were asked to review both documents and
send any comments to Mr. Hew and Ms. Alexander by Friday, September 3. The comments
will be reconciled into one final document that will be reviewed at the September committee
meeting. As Ms. Alexander mentioned in previous meetings, she will need to draft a staff
report and ask for the project to be placed on the schedule for a work session. Committee
members should attend the work session to make a brief presentation and answer any
questions from Mayor and Councilmembers. Mr. Hew has spoken to Mr. Ryan but will speak
to him again regarding Code Enforcement and how they will be a part of this project.
5. Mayor’s Monarch Pledge. There are many action items that are listed for the pledge, but at
least three need to be completed. College Park will do Communication by educating residents
and do seed giveaways at the free library sites, Proclamation, and the Demonstration at the
Pollinator garden planting on Cherokee Street. Mr. Beatty, Mr. Huot, and Ms. Ulloa-Bustos will
package the seeds and Ms. DeWalt volunteered to do labels. October 1st in Monarch Pledge
Day.
6. Ms. Ulloa-Bustos will finalize the seed vendor list for the September meeting.
7. Mr. Hew will forward the power point presentation from the seminar he attended to assist in
working on an IPM plan.
8. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at 7:00pm.
Mr. Hew made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Beatty seconded. Motion carries 7-0-0. The
meeting adjourned at 8:28pm.
Respectfully submitted by Sheryl DeWalt, contract secretary.
