The meeting was called to order by Alan Hew, Chair, at 7:02pm.
1. The agenda was reviewed. Mr. Hew motioned to accept the agenda and Mr. Beatty seconded.
Motion carries for approval 8-0-0.
2. The October 13, 2021, minutes were reviewed. Mr. Hew motioned to accept the minutes with
an amended change and Ms. Espindola seconded. Motion carries for approval 8-0-0.
3. City Report.
a. No Mow Month will be on the December 7, 2021, City Council agenda.
b. The Pollinator Garden is on the schedule for Good Neighbor Day with 11 people who
have volunteered to assist.
c. The Mayor’s Monarch Pledge is due in December. Items needed are:
i. Signed pledge
ii. Pictures
iii. Pollinator Garden
d. The Annual Report for the committee will need to be completed. This will be reviewed
at the December committee meeting.
4. No Mow Month was discussed at the November 2 City Council meeting. Alex Schultz, from
Appleton, Wisconsin, joined the presentation. The City Attorney, Suellen Ferguson, will amend
the resolution and send it back to Mayor and Council for final review and hopefully, approval.
There was discussion on how to educate residents regarding No Mow Month.
5. There will be a distribution of Swamp Milkweed seeds in the next few weeks. Discussion
ensued about further seed distribution, where to distribute (Little Libraries, Farmer’s Market,
Maryland Day, Earth Day, Arbor Day), what kind of seeds to share with the residents and time
frame (probably spring).
6. Ms. Ulloa-Bustos will finalize the seed plant vendor list and email to the committee members.
It will be reviewed for finalization at the December meeting.
7. Committee discussed different ways to create an IPM plan – whether it should be a plan or
policy. Mr. Hew has information on IPM plans that he will share with the committee. This will
be further discussed at the December meeting.
8. Renewal of Bee City certification needs to be done by February 28, 2023. There are three
items for renewal:
a. Native plant list - Mr. Hew made a motion to approve the native plant list and have it re-
formatted. Mr. Pound seconded. Motion carries for approval 8-0-0.
b. Native plant supplier list
c. IPM – Discussed reviewing other jurisdiction plans for guidance in composing the IPM
plan for College Park. Ms. Alexander will be instrumental in advising on the IPM.
9. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at 7:00pm.
Mr. Hew made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Huot seconded. Motion carries 8-0-0. The
meeting adjourned at 9:01pm.
