I. Call to Order
Mary Anne Hakes called the meeting to order at 7: 10 p.m.
II. Approval of Agenda
Bonnie McClellan motioned to approve the agenda for September 7, 2022 with
corrections . Carissa Janis seconded the motion. All were in favor, none opposed. The
motion passed.
III. Approval of Minutes- May 5, 2022
Bonnie McClellan motioned to approve the minutes from May 5, 2022 , with corrections .
Arelis Perez seconded the motion. All were in favor, none opposed. The motion passed.
IV. Neighbors Helping Neighbors College Park (NHN-CP) Update
A. Janet Hawley provided an update about current goals, plans, and efforts.
1. Meetings are being hosted at Proteus through September 29, 2022
2. Increase in the number of volunteers
3. Challenges with volunteers accepting requests
4. Hosted an informal information at Spellman House session about NHN-CP
V. AARP Livability Update
1
A. Robert Thurston shared an update of the AARP Livability Subcommittee and its
current focus.
1. Improving communication in the city
2. Soliciting feedback from other city boards, committees, and Civic Associations
3. The draft action plan for the AARP Livability Project’s first year activities is currently
being shared with city boards, committees, and Civic Associations to gain feedback
and input about the plan’s effectiveness.
VI. Committee ’s Meeting Structure and Special Guests
A. Meeting Structure
The committee discussed options to hold meetings virtually, in person, or hybrid format.
Meeting are currently being held virtually.
B. Special Guests
The committee discussed inviting guests to attend future meetings to engage community
stakeholders and organizations about committee efforts and to be informed about the
initiatives of community stakeholders and organizations.
VII. Clearinghouse brainstorming session to be sponsored by NHN-CP among the
committee see October exchange of ideas to bring awareness and engage members of
the senior community
VIII. Next Meeting will be held on October 5, 2022
IX. Adjournment
Arelis Perez motioned to adjourn the meeting . Adele Ellis
seconded the motion. All were in favor, none opposed. The motion passed.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
