Approved: 042017 Pay as you Throw/SMART Committee Meeting February 1, 2017 Present: Suchitra Balachandran, Janis Oppelt, Matt Dernoga, Bob Stumpff, Gemma Evans, Chris Nagle, Todd Larsen Guests: Sheryl DeWalt, contract secretary The meeting started at 7:35 pm. 1. Reviewed the December 7, 2016 meeting minutes which Dr. Balachandran submitted with corrections. Mr. Stumpff made a correction on the comment regarding Aberdeen. Ms. Oppelt made a motion to accept the December minutes with the correction. Mr. Dernoga seconded the motion. All in favor; no opposed. 2. Dr. Balachandran reviewed the SMART summary she distributed outlining pricing structure and savings. Ms. Nagle asked why bags over bins and the response was based on research that waste reduction is greater using bags and the City would have to set up residential billing if you go to bins. Ms. Nagle also asked about the additional $80,000 in salary for an additional staff member. Mr. Stumpff explained that the Finance Director stated he does not have enough staff and someone would have to be hired to handle billing. 3. Outline of document was reviewed: a.
