DRAFT AGENDA College Park Committee for a Better Environment Monday, April 24, 2023 7 pm Location: Online meeting – Zoom https://zoom.us/j/91731040714 (agenda subject to change)  Amendments to and/or approval of this agenda  Review and approve March minutes (attached)  Report on City activities and CBE budget – Janet McCaslin. . Ongoing Business  Green Award Winners -- presentation (10 minutes)  Better Bags – County Bill – out of Environmental Committee and moving to full Council. Exempts drive throughs and may exempt restaurants in general. Won’t supplant Better Bags in College Park which will still be stricter including all restaurants (5 minutes)  May parade – CBE participation – need to vote on covering costs of supplies (10 minutes)  Labeling trees on the trolley trail – new labels being placed (5 min)  Stormwater drain art/medallions – (15 min) o Spring paintings – new art! o Medallion placement – Girl Scout Troop spring placements in Lakeland (May 24).  Climate Action Plan (10 minutes) o Next steps on a plan for College Park – updating the website – new content  Trolley Trail Day (10 minutes) – update on plans for the day  Can CBE co-sponsor Stormwater management multi-town meeting on May 24? This will reduce fees for the event. Also, we can promote it to residents in College Park.  Dry Cleaners – tip of the month for May  Sustainability Survey – issue in early fall?  Electric Vehicle Event in the fall (10 minutes) – the owners of the shopping mall where the North College Park Farmer’s Market takes place have approved having several electric cars and bikes on display with tabling, and are getting approval from Mom’s as well. The Farmer’s Market team is also on board. We can pick any Saturday in September to run the event. o Need to pick a day when electric/plug-in car owners are available to display their vehicles. The city owns electric vehicles and could take part as well. o Ask e-bike sellers to take part (can let people test out e-bikes) o Table with information about incentives for purchasing electric cars and the CBE magnets, as well as information about the e-bike/scooter rental program.  Report out on Bee City activities (10 minutes)  Tips of the month for coming months (5 minutes)  Green Awards – nominees – collecting for next year, we received one nomination for next year already (5 minutes)  Tree and Landscape Board report. (10 minutes) New Business Letter to Mayor and Council re: support for closing off a block of Knox Road to vehicles to create a pedestrian safe area. Letter to Mayor and Council re: asking County Council to include all restaurants in its Better Bags bill. Next Meeting: May 22, 2023
