I. Call to Order
Ms. Sutton called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m.
II. Review and Approval of Agenda
The Committee reviewed the meeting agenda. Ms. Wolley motioned to approve the
agenda as presented. Second by Ms. Chicquelo. All members were in favor; none
opposed.
III. Reading and Approval of 05/16/19 Meeting Minutes
The Committee reviewed the meeting minutes from the May 16, 2019 meeting.
Ms. Wolley made a motion to approve the May 16, 2019 meeting minutes with
correction. Second by Ms. Chicquelo. All members were in favor; none opposed.
IV. 2020 event
a. Venue
The Dance Theatre is confirmed for Saturday January 11, 2020. There is no entry to the
theatre during performances and there will be escorts available to help with seating.
b. Responses
Rabbi Alexander from the Adas Israel Congregation is not able to participate in the event
due to Sabbath. Ms. Fletcher is waiting on a response from the Café Steel Orchestra to
see if they are still available since the event date changed to January 11th. Jay Winter

Nightwolf is not available to participate in the event. Gregory Woods has played drums
in prior events and is available to participate in the 2020 event. No responses were
received from the television advertisement regarding feedback on the event and
becoming a Committee member.
c. Other recommendations
Ms. Sutton will schedule a meeting with Congressman Thompson. Ms. Chicquelo will
reach out to another Rabbi she has contact with. Ms. Chicquelo asked if seniors from
other locations can be invited to the event. Ms. Sutton asked the Committee if they can
ask young family members to help with posting the event on social media to increase
awareness of the 2020 event. It was suggested to post awareness of the event on
Nextdoor.
d. Theme
Ms, Chicquelo motioned that the theme for the 2020 MLK event is “Is His Dream,
Your Dream To?” Second by Mr. Schakner. All members in favor; none opposed.
e. Questions for the panel
Ms. Sutton asked the Committee to think of questions for the panel to answer. One
suggested question is: What does Dr. King’s dream mean to you?
f. Facilitator
Ms. Sutton is still waiting for responses from publicists for Reese Waters, Donnie
Simpson, and Tony Perkins.
g. Panel diversity
The Committee discussed having 5 panelist of various ethnicities. Ms. Chicquelo made
a motion to select 4-5 panelists contingent on participants that respond to the
Committee’s request. Second by Mr. Schakner. All members in favor; none
opposed.
h. Program Timing
The 2019 event was 1.5 hours and the 2020 event should have the same timing.
i. Video of King Holiday
The Committee watched the video of King Holiday and discussed possibly playing the
song during the 2020 event.
j. Refreshments
There is approximately $1,000 available to purchase refreshments for the 2020 event.

V. Adjournment
Ms. Sutton adjourned the meeting at 8:20 p.m.
VI. Next Meeting
The next meeting is scheduled for September 19, 2019 at the College Park Community
Center.
