Call to Order
Ms. Bernache called the meeting to order at 7:28pm.
Approval of the August Minutes
The committee reviewed the meeting minutes from the August 20, 2018 meeting. Ms. Powers
made a motion to approve the August meeting minutes as written. Second by Ms. Ellis. All
members were in favor; no opposed.
Responses to School Supply Donations
The committee shared responses provided from the schools that received school supply
donations. All the schools were very appreciative of the donations and expressed joy and
gratitude toward the committee.
Last minute items for College Park Day
• Coverage: Mr. Toledo will create a signup sheet for members to sign up for specific time
slots.
• Table space: Mr. Toledo requested a table and is awaiting confirmation.
• Distribution of books: Books need to be dropped off at the table by noon on Saturday
10/6.
• Misc.: Ms. Bernache will bring water for everyone and a cart to carry any remaining
books.
Potential Scholarship for Graduating Seniors
The committee discussed if this should be an additional scholarship provided by the EAC.
Majority of the committee were in favor of creating this scholarship. Ms. Powers made a
motion to create a form and parameters for a graduating senior in College Park to receive
a scholarship for books. Second by Mr. Toledo. All members were in favor.
Welcome to new University of Maryland representative
The committee welcomed Ms. Stacy Currie as the new University of Maryland representative for
the EAC.
Green School Awards
Ms. Valerie Woodall presented to the committee a proposal to initiate Green School awards.
Green School awards would be a way to recognize Green Schools for sustainability practices and
could help schools maintain their status as a green school.
Adjournment
Ms. Bernache adjourned the meeting at 8:29pm.
