Call to Order
Ms. Bernache called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m.
Old Business
Approval of the March Meeting Minutes
The committee reviewed the meeting minutes from the March 18, 2019 meeting.
Mr. Toledo made a motion to approve the March meeting minutes as presented. Second by
Ms. Ellis. All members in favor; no opposed.
Challenges with funds for field trips|
Ms. Greene-Colby informed the Committee there are grants available for field trips, such as the
Chesapeake Bay Trust and Target. Ms. Bernache will reach out to Mr. Thomas and ask if the
process for school field trips has become a challenge for teachers.
Background checks
The EAC had allocated budget funds for paying up to 3 parents from 5 schools to pay for
background checks. Ms. Higgins checked into this and there is already a program available
through PG county schools. The EAC will put the allocated money back into the budget for
College Park Day and school supplies.
Approval of Green School Awards

The Committee decided to move forward with providing certificates to the winners of the Green
School Awards at City Hall on either May 28th or June 11th. Ms. Ellis made a motion to
approve the Green School Awards. Second by Ms. Greene-Colby. All members in favor;
no opposed.
College Park Day
Ms. Powers will purchase the books for College Park Day this upcoming weekend.
Remaining budget money
There is potentially up to $3,000 available that was allocated for the background checks that is
now available to spend.
In the past, the EAC ordered $1,000 of supplies that included six cases composition notebooks,
glue sticks, crayons, yellow pencils, and tissues. The supplies were provided to the elementary
schools. EAC members delivered the supplies to the schools in August. The EAC decided to
double the amount to $2,000 in supplies from the Dollar Tree. Ms. Bernache will place the
order. Mr. Toledo made a motion to use remaining available budget funds to purchase
$2,000 in school supplies and remaining funds be used for College Park Day swag. Second
by Ms. Bernache. All members in favor; no opposed.
New Business
Election of Chair and co-Chair
The Committee voted for Ms. Bernache to remain as Chair and Mr. Toledo to remain as co-Chair
for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.
