MINUTES Special Session of the College Park City Council Tuesday, May 16, 2017 Council Chambers 9:06 p.m. – 9:08 p.m. PRESENT: Mayor Wojahn; Councilmembers Kabir, Nagle, Dennis, Stullich, Day, Kujawa, and Cook. ABSENT: Councilmember Brennan. ALSO PRESENT: Scott Somers, City Manager; Janeen Miller, City Clerk; Suellen Ferguson, City Attorney; Bill Gardiner, Assistant City Manager; Terry Schum, Director of Planning; Gary Fields, Director of Finance; Chris Keosian, Student Liaison; Brandon Carroll, Deputy Student Liaison. During a regularly scheduled Worksession of the College Park City Council, a motion was made by Councilmember Stullich and seconded by Councilmember Nagle to enter into a Special Session. The possibility of the Special Session was listed on the meeting agenda. The motion carried 7-0-0 and the Council entered into Special Session at 9:06 p.m. ACTION ITEM 17-G-71 Approval of a Letter to the University of Maryland expressing support for the IFC/PHA campus tailgates Councilmember Stullich circulated a revised letter and Council discussed some minor edits. A motion was made by Councilmember Stullich and seconded by Councilmember Day to send a letter in substantially the form provided to the University of Maryland expressing support for the IFC/PHA campus tailgates. Councilmember Kabir would like to talk with University officials about his personal expectation that the University contribute more to this event because their budget is so much more than ours. Councilmember Stullich said we have seen benefit from the campus tailgates and want to see them continue and perhaps expand in some way. It would be great to have a conversation with the University about this. There were no comments from the audience or the Council. The motion passed 7-0-0. ADJOURN: A motion was made by Councilmember Dennis and seconded by Councilmember Day to adjourn the Special Session, and with a motion of 7 – 0 – 0 Mayor Wojahn adjourned the Special Session at 9:08 p.m. ____________________________________________ Janeen S.
