MINUTES Special Session of the College Park City Council Tuesday, April 3, 2018 Council Chambers 9:20 – 9:23 p.m. PRESENT: Mayor Wojahn; Councilmembers Kabir, Kennedy, Brennan, Dennis, Day, Rigg, Kujawa and Mitchell. ABSENT: None. ALSO PRESENT: Scott Somers, City Manager; Bill Gardiner, Assistant City Manager; Janeen Miller, City Clerk; Suellen Ferguson, City Attorney; Bob Ryan, Director of Public Services; Chris Keosian, Student Liaison; Julianne Heberlein, Deputy Student Liaison. During a regularly scheduled Worksession of the College Park City Council, a motion was made by Councilmember Kennedy and seconded by Councilmember Dennis to enter into a Special Session to approve two letters that are time-sensitive. The motion carried 8 – 0 – 0 and the Council entered into Special Session at 9:20 p.m. ACTION ITEM 18-G-55 Approval for the Mayor to sign a Four Cities letter to Gov. Hogan re: double taxation imposed by the new federal cap on the state and local tax (SALT) deduction. A motion was made by Councilmember Rigg and seconded by Councilmember Day to approve a Four Cities letter to Gov. Hogan about the double taxation impact of the new federal cap on the state and local tax (SALT) deduction. There were no comments from the audience or from the Council. The motion passed 8 – 0 – 0. 18-G-56 Approval for the Mayor to sign a letter in support of Greyhound Lines, Inc. application to the Maryland Transit Administration for continued Greyhound service between Washington DC and Wilmington DE A motion was made by Councilmember Rigg and seconded by Councilmember Kennedy to approve a letter in support of Greyhound Lines’ application to the Maryland Transit Administration for continued bus service between Washington DC and Wilmington DE, with local stops including College Park. There were no comments from the audience or from the Council. The motion passed 8 – 0 – 0. College Park City Council Special Session April 3, 2018 Page 2 ADJOURN: A motion was made by Councilmember Brennan and seconded by Councilmember Dennis to exit the Special Session and to enter into a Closed Session, for the purpose of consulting with Counsel on a legal matter and to consider a matter concerning a business that seeks to locate in the County.
