Special Session of the College Park City Council
Tuesday, July 10, 2018
Council Chambers
9:20 p.m.
PRESENT: Mayor Wojahn; Councilmembers Kabir, Kennedy, Brennan, Dennis, Day,
Rigg, Kujawa and Mitchell.
ABSENT: None.
ALSO PRESENT: Scott Somers, City Manager; Bill Gardiner, Assistant City Manager;
Yvette Allen, Assistant City Clerk; Suellen Ferguson, City Attorney; Bob
Ryan, Director of Public Services; Terry Schum, Director of Planning;
Miriam Bader, Senior Planner; Alex Tobin, Student Liaison.
During a regularly scheduled Worksession of the College Park City Council, a motion was made
by Councilmember Rigg and seconded by Councilmember Mitchell to enter into a Special
Session to approve a letter to the Prince George’s County Council and two Advisory Planning
Resolutions which are time-sensitive. The Special Session was listed on the Worksession
agenda. The motion carried 8 – 0 – 0 and the Council entered into Special Session at 9:20 p.m.
ACTION ITEMS
18-G-97 Approval of comments to the Prince George’s County Council on the
Comprehensive Zoning Rewrite legislative package.
A motion was made by Councilmember Rigg and seconded by Councilmember Kabir to
approve the submission of comments on the Zoning Rewrite legislative package to the
District Council as recommended by staff.
There were no comments from the audience or from the Council.
The motion carried 8-0-0.
18-R-07 Resolution of the Mayor and Council of the City of College Park Adopting the
Recommendations of the Advisory Planning Commission regarding Appeal
Number CEO-2018-01, located at 4608 Harvard Road, College Park,
Maryland, recommending approval of a variance from City Code §87-23 C to
permit the construction of a fence more than 3-feet high in the front yard.
A motion was made by Councilmember Day and seconded by Councilmember Rigg to
adopt Resolution 18-R-07.
There were no comments from the Council.
The motion carried 8-0-0.

18-R-08 Resolution of the Mayor and Council of the City of College Park adopting the
recommendation of the Advisory Planning Commission regarding variance
application number CPV-2018-04, 5021 Nantucket Road, College Park,
Maryland, recommending approval of a variance from the Prince George’s
County Zoning Ordinance Sec. 27-120.01 (c) to permit the construction of a
driveway partially in the front yard of a dwelling.
A motion was made by Councilmember Kabir and seconded by Councilmember Kennedy
to adopt Resolution 18-R-08.
There were no comments from the Council.
The motion carried 8-0-0.
ADJOURN: A motion was made by Councilmember Day and seconded by Councilmember
Dennis to exit the Special Session. With a vote of 8 – 0 – 0, Mayor Wojahn adjourned the
Special Session at 9:22 p.m.
