College Park Emergency City Council Meeting
Thursday, June 27, 2024
7:00 p.m.
VIRTUAL
PRESENT: Mayor Kabir; Mayor Pro Tem Mitchell; Councilmembers Hew, Esters,
Whitney, and Mackie.
ABSENT: Councilmembers Adams, Hernandez and Rigg.
ALSO PRESENT: Kenneth Young, City Manager; Bill Gardiner, Assistant City Manager;
Janeen S. Miller, City Clerk; Stephanie Anderson, City Attorney;
Suellen Ferguson, Attorney.
Mayor Kabir opened the meeting on the Zoom virtual platform at 7:02 p.m.
ACTION ITEMS: Mayor Kabir explained that the reason for this meeting is to take a
motion to go into a Closed Session. He read the Closing Statement:
Pursuant to the statutory authority of Maryland Annotated Code, General Provisions
Article, §3-305, the Mayor and Council will meet in a Closed Session to consult with
Counsel to obtain legal advice and to consult with staff, consultants, or other individuals
about pending or potential litigation. The Mayor and Council will not return to open
session after the closed session ends.
The motion to enter into the Closed Session was made by Councilmember Mitchell and
seconded by Councilmember Esters. The motion passed 5-0, and the public session
was adjourned at 7:08 p.m.
[The closed session minutes will be appended to the July 9, 2024 meeting minutes.]
