Call to Order Ms. Gross called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. II. Review of July Meeting Minutes The Commission reviewed the meeting minutes of the July 28, 2022, meeting. Ms. Robinson motioned to approve the minutes as presented. Second by Ms. Pancho. All members in favor; no opposed. Motion carries, 13-0-0. III. Approval of the Agenda The Commission reviewed the agenda for the meeting and no changes were made. IV. Committees Ms. Williams provided the Commission an overview of the Maryland Open Meetings Act. The Commission was informed that the Committee meetings cannot be closed meetings and will need to be scheduled as public meetings to follow the Maryland Open Meetings Act. Ms. Williams also discussed with the Commission the Compliance Checklist that should be followed for public meetings. The goal is for each Committee to meet before the September 22nd Commission meeting. V. Restorative Justice Presence Ms. Barragan and Ms. Williams presented to the Commission the following examples of other restorative justice programs:  DC Alliance for Restorative Practices  DC Office of the Attorney General Restorative Justice Program  Emory Grove Community in Gaithersburg, MD  River Road Moses Cemetery in Bethesda, MD  Maryland Lynching Truth and Reconciliation VI. Commission Outreach  Lakeland Day scheduled on August 27, 2022.  Lakeland Civic Association meeting is scheduled on September 8, 2022. Meeting discussions will include the new development on Route 1 and updates on the July 12th storm.  Good Neighbor Day scheduled on November 12th. 2 VII. Questions 1. Will a leader be selected for each Committee? There is a co-Chair opportunity within each Committee. 2. How will the Committee meeting be conducted? The Committee meetings will be public meetings and be conducted the same as the Commission meeting. 3. Do the Committee meetings need to meet before the September 22nd Commission meeting? Yes, that is the current plan. 4. When will members be contacted regarding scheduling of the Committee meetings? The Committee meetings will be scheduled within a week. VIII. Next Meeting The next meeting is scheduled on September 22, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. IX. Adjournment Ms. Robinson motioned to adjourn the meeting. Second by Mr. Fellows. All members in favor; no opposed. Motion carries 15-0-0. The meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m. 3
