Call to Order Ms. Gross called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. II. Review and Approval of May Meeting Minutes The Commission reviewed the meeting minutes of the May 21, 2024, meeting and no edits were made. 1  Mr. Thurston motioned to approve the minutes. Second by Ms. Randall-Boardly. All members in favor; no opposed. Motion carries 7-0-0. III. Announcements a. Last month’s event with the panel discussion turned out to be a fabulous event. Next month’s event is a scheduled concert, Shadows of Lakeland on July 27, 2024. Tickets are available at the box office of the Clarice. b. College Park Community Preservation Trust – Mr. Abdul-Karim informed the Commission an open house at 8006 51st Ave. will be hosted on June 29th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. IV. Commission To Do Items a. Vice Chair selection - Mr. Thurston nominated Mr. Sellers as Vice Chair of the Commission. Mr. Sellers accepted the nomination. Ms. Jones motioned to approve Mr. Sellers nomination as Vice Chair. Second by Mr. Fellows. All members in favor; no opposed. Motion carries, 7-0-0. b. Appoint Scholarship Committee - Ms. Murphy, Ms. Jones, and Dr. Featherstone volunteered to be appointed on the scholarship committee for the RJC. The plan is to send the scholarship communication to the City by July 1st. August 1st will be the application deadline and scholarship winners will be notified by August 15th. Committee members should plan a meeting based on the timelines. c. Lakeland Day August 24th – A question came up on whether a moon bounce will be provided this year as the vendor from last year was inquiring. The group decided to keep the event low key and have a table to provide information on restorative justice programs. A sign will be located near the moon bounce. d. RFP Proposal – City Council voted to accept the RFP proposal for the research position. V. RJC Committee Reports a. Restorative and Transformative – The Committee met to work on the upcoming events and scholarships. VI. Adjournment Dr. Featherstone motioned to adjourn the meeting. Second by Mr. Sellers. All members in favor; no opposed. Motion carries, 10-0-0. The meeting adjourned at 6:33 p.m. 2
