Ms. Oppelt called the meeting to order at 7:03 pm.
1. Approval of October Meeting Minutes: The minutes of the October 24, 2018 meeting
were reviewed, and corrections were made.
Motion: Adopt October meeting minutes with corrections.
Moved: Dr. Lea-Cox Second: Mr. Krouse
Aye: Unanimous Nay: 0 Abstain: 0
2. Public Works Department Report: Ms. Alexander shared the following highlights:
• All pansies, bulbs and trees have been installed.
• The two new recently hired laborers are working. Interviews are being
scheduled next week to fill two additional vacancies.
• Contract tree work to be completed by end of November.
• One TCEP application has been completed. Waiting to receive confirmation
that the tree has been installed for the second application.
• Leaf collection is currently ongoing. The crews are currently working on the
North side of 193.
• The City requested the developer to save the large diameter willow oak tree
on Yale Avenue. This wasn’t possible, so replacement street trees are planned
at the Hillel site.
3. CBE Report: Ms. Oppelt shared the following highlights:
a. The tree pruning workshop was very well received. There were twelve people in
attendance.
4. Old Business
a. College Park Tree Canopy Assessment

This assessment will be presented to the Council on December 4, 2018. The Board
reviewed the draft assessment and have the following recommended changes and
questions:
• What time of year was the tree canopy assessment done?
• How is the tree canopy density assessed?
• How are the gains being measured?
• The map scale appears to be incorrect.
• Part of the map includes the USDA, so the map needs to be recalculated.
• The middle picture on the first page needs to be removed.
• The images on the last page are not clear and need more information.
• The assessment should be focused more on College Park and not the surrounding
cities.
b. Letter to Councilmember Denise Mitchell
Ms. Oppelt will draft a letter to Ms. Mitchell following up on the recommendations
discussed during the October 24, 2018 meeting.
5. New Business
a.TLB Membership term
Mr. Krouse’s membership expires on November 30, 2018 and he does not want to renew
his appointment.
6. Adjournment and Next Meeting
Dr. Lea-Cox motioned to adjourn the meeting. Second by Ms. Oppelt. The meeting
adjourned at 8:21pm. There will be no December meeting. The next meeting will be held
on January 16, 2019.
