2. Presentation on Calvert Hills Drainage Project
Ms. Bigby from Assedo Consulting presented to the TLB the Calvert Hill drainage
project. The presentation covered proposed work on Guilford Run to improve storm
water flow to mitigate flooding in the Calvert Hills neighborhood. The project is
currently in the design phase. The presentation covered the proposal to increase the
channel size to improve water drainage, which will involve removal of trees that have
grown in the channel. Estimated start of project is Fall 2020, with estimated completion
in May 2022. The plan originally had 300 trees impacted but the design was changed to
preserve those trees. Based on the current plan, approximately 80 trees and about 1/3 of
an acre of forest area would be removed. The Board requested to have Assedo
Consulting present another presentation when the plans are finalized.
3. Landscaping plan for new City Hall
Mr. Somers presented the landscape plan for the new City hall building. The design
currently shows trees and vegetation planting areas to help with storm water management.
Tree types planted will include Magnolia Green Shadows, Princeton Elm, Nyssa
Sylvatica, Betula Nigra “Duraheat”, Chionantus (small trees planted to avoid the power
