Approval of Meeting Agenda: The agenda for the July 22, 2020 meeting was reviewed. Motion: The agenda order was re-arranged to start with the TCEP and Rain Check rebate program. Moved: Ms. Alfred Second: Dr. Lea-Cox Aye: Unanimous Nay: 0 Abstain: 0 2. Approval of June Meeting Minutes: The minutes of the June 17, 2020 meeting were reviewed. Public Works Department Report: Ms. Alexander shared the following highlights:  Contracted tree work with EXCEL is near completion.  The maps of the PEPCO line clearance work are posted on the City website.  Met with the PEPCO planners for tree removals in North College Park. 1  Two temporary summer employees have been hired to help with weeding and clean up.  The Hollywood Dog Park construction contract was approved by the City Council.  The Odessa Park project concept plan is still being finalized.  The landscape crew is working on weeding, pruning, and watering.  Initiating a dialogue with Public Services for enforcement of vegetation encroachment in the right of way.  Currently working on having a risk assessment performed for shared ownership of a tree in North College Park.  There were 13 TCEP applications and 28 trees planted in FY 2020. In FY 2019, there were 9 TCEP applications and 13 trees planted. In FY 2018, there were 5 TCEP applications and 6 trees were planted. 4. Planning Report: Ms. Schum shared the following highlights: The planning department is busy reviewing new development applications. There are about ten new projects that have started in the past few months, mostly student housing projects. The following City neighborhood projects are underway:  Hollywood Gateway Park is near completion.  Hollywood Street Scape project involves reclaiming paved area to add plantings, seating, performance space, adding landscaping, bike lanes and enhancing street safety.  A visioning process has been completed for Duvall field on how to renovate the rest of the facility.  There are plans being designed for buffered bike lanes for Rhode Island Ave. 5. CBE Report: Mr. Gregory provided the following highlights:  Project Drawdown seminar was held, and 38 people attended.  Voted to purchase more mosquito traps.  Reviewed three designs of car magnets.  Sustainability survey is being edited and then will be translated into Spanish.  Plantings for the permaculture garden will wait until the fall.  Discussed advertising to City residents the availability of thermal leak. protection devices.  Reviewed GAP analysis.  Two nominations were made for the Green Awards.  Discussed expanding tree canopy and promoting the TCEP. 6. Old Business 2 a. Cover memo for tree permit recommendations to Council Ms. Alfred drafted the cover memo to be submitted with the tree ordinance recommendations. The Board provided edit recommendations to Ms. Alfred and will review during the August meeting. 7. New Business a. TCEP and Rain Check Rebate Program Mr. Sussman applied for the Prince George’s County Rain Check rebate program and was denied. Per the County’s rebate program, College Park is excluded since the City has a tree planting incentive program. Ms. Alexander will follow up with the County. 8. Next Meeting Date The next meeting will be held on August 19, 2020. 9. Adjournment Ms. Alfred made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Second by Dr. Lea-Cox. The meeting adjourned at 9:01 p.m. 3
