The City of Columbia City In Columbia County on the Columbia River PARKS COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES JUNE 28, 2016 - 5:00 P.M. 1840 SECOND STREET, COLUMBIA CITY, OR 97018 Present: Jack Hruska, Committee Member Stan Hopkins, Committee Member Leahnette Rivers, City Administrator/Recorder DAR Parks: Leahnette reported that the DAR recently contributed $2,000.00 to the City for the maintenance of Pixie and Ruth Rose Richardson Parks. Jack will turn in the plan for fixing the stairs at Pixie so Leahnette can forward it to the DAR for their review and approval. McBride Creek Trail: Leahnette plans to apply for a grant to complete some engineering and construction work along one very steep bank area in the first section of trail. Jim Bundy Memorial Park: Leahnette reported that Loren Fielding donated 1/2 day of tree maintenance work in the park last week. She said they fell several trees that need to be bucked up, and the work crew is scheduled to do the work during the next month. The wood will be donated to Columbia County Parks. Leahnette noted that during the next few months we need to look for some seedlings to use to reforest the park this fall. Harvard Park: Jack showed some photos of some "shade sails" that are in near the boat launch in Rainier. He said they might be good for the picnic tables near the playground. Stan will stop by the next time he's in Rainier to get more specific information about the shade sails. Veteran Park Phase III: Leahnette suggested we start working on the remaining Phase III items after summer has ended. Meeting adjourned at 5:30 p.m. 1
