Columbia Heights Public Schools SPECIAL CALLED JOINT SCHOOL BOARD/ COLUMBIA HEIGHTS CITY COUNCIL MEETING Community Room February 8, 2022 5:30 PM Members present: Ms. Granlund, Ms. Lewis Ms. Mueller, Ms. Palmer, Ms. Zeimet; Superintendent Stenvik, Mayor Márquez Simula, Mr. Murzyn, Ms. Jacobs, Ms. Buesgens, Mr. Novitsky, Kelli Bourgeois, City Manager Members absent: Ms. Severson 1. CALL TO ORDER AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Mayor Márquez Simula/Vice Chair Mueller called the meeting to order at 5:30 PM. The Pledge of Allegiance was said. 2. WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS The Columbia Heights City Council and School Board did introductions. 3. PRESENTATION OF CITY PROJECTS Aaron Chirpich, Community Development Director presented information on Community Projects. Renee Dougherty, Library Director presented information on the Library Programs. Keith Windschitl, Recreation Director presented information on Recreation Program. 4. PRESENTATION OF SCHOOL DISTRICTS PROJECTS Vice Chair Mueller; Bondo Nyembwe, Executive Dir. of Educational Services; Tara Thukral, Dir. of Teaching and Learning and Emily Garner, Teaching and Learning Coordinator presented on Equity. John Fry, Dir. of Special Education; Lindsey Bennett, Dir. of Human Resources; Bryan Hennekens, Dir. Finance and Operations and Ms. Thukral presented an Update on COVID. Kristen Stuenkel, Dir. of Community Education and Communications; Mr. Hennekens, Mr. Fry and Ms. Thukral presented information on Summer Projects. ADJOURNMENT Having completed all of the items on the agenda, at 6:32 p.m. Mayor Márquez Simula/Vice Chair Mueller adjourned the meeting.
