Columbia County approved their plan and it was made available to municipalities in late September for review. City staff has been working with a GIS analyst from Columbia County to review local ward boundaries to be sure they are in compliance. Due to an increase in population in Columbus, ward boundaries required updating, and an additional ward was added to keep the population as equal as possible within each ward, aldermanic district, and County supervisory districts. The City Council must approve and submit the final map and adopted ordinance to the County Clerk no later than October 18. A special meeting will need to called to formally adopt the proposed map, and adopt the ordinance. The City must also complete the same process for the one ward located in Dodge County. There are no residents living in this ward, and no changes have been made.
