COLUMBUS AREA AQUATIC CENTER ADVISORY BOARD Meeting Minutes Wednesday, March 15, 2017 6:15 pm 1. Call to Order – by City Administrator Patrick Vander Sanden at 6:15 pm 2. Determination of Quorum – yes and members present: Ross Rehfeldt, Cailin Lueders, Alderman Michael Thom and City Administrator Patrick Vander Sanden for Mayor Crombie. Also present DPW Director Davis Clark, Recreation Supervisor Amy Jo Meyers, CAAC manager Kane Browskowski and Head Guard Catie O’Keefe. New members Marcie Bindl and Julie Berget. 3. Notice of Posted Meeting – posted. 4. Welcome new board members - introductions 5. Approve Agenda - Motion by Rehfeldt, second by Thom. Motion carried. 6. Approve minutes of March 15 meeting – Motion by Rehfeldt second by Lueders. Motion carried. 7. Citizen Comments & Communications - None 8. Old Business: a. Discussion - recruitment for board members: Reviewed open positions and discussion regarding new mayoral appointments. One member may be a current CAAC employee and up to two reside outside City but in school district. Roberts and Lueders resigning. b. Rental of facility to outside groups for additional income and exposure to venue/community. Discussion and agreement at $50/hr. Browskowski reported Michael White $50 high but has not committed. c. 2017 Pool Projects 1. Meyers talked about the resurfacing – tentative start April 3 2. The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool & Spa Safety Act (P&SS Act)/VGBA –Clark talked about the Act and reported on an issue discovered at bottom of slide to pool house (capping) 3. Meyers - replace sand in filters (3200 lbs.) 4. Meyers reported that the slide inspections slated for May 29 all slides (5yrs) 5. Meyers - HVAC – replaced motor d. 2017 Season Open/Close – Memorial Day to Labor Day. Tentative/June 3. Archery function June 2. e. 2017 Brochure – layout and printing ordered e. Staffing – about 27 returning staff – Kane completing coursework for certification 9. Next Meeting Date – Wednesday, April 19. 10. Adjournment: 7:25 pm.
