Columbus Historic Landmarks and Preservation Commission Special Meeting – Pavilion Projects - Agenda Thursday, February 27, 2020 @ 4:00 pm Kurth Brewery Attendees: John Salzwedel, Beth Altschwager, Carolyn Fredericks, Retta Kurth,, Ruth Hermanson; Guest: Paul Pyfferoen 1. Call meeting to order: John Salzwedel 2. Properly posted meeting: Check 3. Approve agenda: Motion: Altschwager; Second: Hermanson; Motion carried. 4. Citizen comments on agenda items: None 5. Approve minutes from the January 30, 2020 Pavilion Planning meeting: Motion: Fredericks; Second, Altschwager; Motion carried. 6. Windows Project: Progressing. A) Invoices: 1) $8500 for painting 8 windows: 2) $16,327.50 for balance of lower windows. Hermanson made a motion to pay the invoices to Community Building & Restoration out of the Pavilion account. Kurth seconded it. Motion carried. B) Uncovering Park Ave. side banks of windows: Following discussion, Fredericks made a motion to do exploratory work on one bank of windows. Hermanson seconded it. Motion carried. Discussion on replicating the look of windows not fully exposed: Fredericks will contact Crary, Hermanson will contact Home Town, and Salzwedel will contact Prairie Glass for recommendations. C) Window Dressing: Hermanson will contact Cindy Schroedel and Home Expressions for options. 7. Exterior painting: Looking to begin possibly mid-May. 8. First floor entryway: Received approval from City Council to open up for bids. Follow up with details concerning insurance, grade, and sign ordinance. Hermanson made a motion to hire a contractor to give a “soft bid” for the project. Altschwager seconded it. Motion carried. Fredericks will contact Bruce Zander. 9. Next meeting date: Set for Tuesday March 24, 2020 at 4 pm at the Kurth Brewery. 10. Adjourn: Motion: Hermanson; Second: Altschwager; Motion carried.
