Columbus Historic Landmarks & Preservation Commission Rest Haven Special Sub Committee Meeting Agenda Special Meeting Monday February 13, 2023 - 4:00 p.m. City Hall Council Chambers 161 Building 161 N. Dickason 1. Call meeting to order – meeting called to order at 4:04 pm 2. Roll call: Present Carolyn Fredericks, Amy Jo Meyers, Libby Gilbertson, Ruth Hermanson. Jamie Nichols absent 3. Notice of an Open & Posted Meeting 4. Citizen comments on agenda items 5. Approve agenda: Motion by Libby Gilbertson, second by Carolyn Fredericks to approve the agenda 6. Approve Minutes from past meetings: Motion by Fredericks to approve the January 16 minutes, second by Gilbertson 7. Old Business a. SHPO Review and take action on: Fredericks made a motion to accept the SHPO & Request and to bring forward to council for approval, Gilbertson second b. Review scope drawing highlighted areas and bathroom finish ideas from Architect: Talked in detail about the look of the bathrooms, tile, ceiling tiles, historic correct, etc. c. Review ADA entrance with Push Botton Access for ADA layout updates: Subcommittee members agreed that a single door entrance of 36” is acceptable. This may change depending on the addition of the push button door and the electrical needs. Should the ADA access maybe go to a side door? d. Overall plan ceiling heat/cool option and take action on: Committee liked the idea of the HVAC to be a secondary bid / addendum to allow us the opportunity to find out project prices right away. Maybe we can do the project now or down the road. Do not call it a Phase 2. e. Lighting: Central room to have two fans, one chandelier if possible we can find the original one that was in the RH. More arts and craft options f. Windows: Marvin windows does create many historic windows versus Anderson. Look to get a quote from them; perhaps they would also quote the group on doors. g. Questions for Roger Smith the Architect: Will Roger be available for the meeting on the 21st via zoom, to answer any questions of council members h. Schedule of Documents Timeline: 15th CHLPC, 21st meeting and the rest to follow. We can provide draft minutes if need be of our recommendations. i. Donation update: The donor of the Rest Haven remodel has been briefed on the project to date 8. New Business a. Review to present any updates to CHLPC Regular meeting b. City Council Meeting Feb. 21 2023 c. Change Order for Roger Smith Design Coalition Architect review & take action d. Contact Local Trades for associated work 9.
