Call to Order/Roll Call A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Commerce City was called to order by Mayor Ford on October 2, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. A motion was made by Council Member Amador, seconded by Council Member Teter, to excuse Mayor Pro Tem Bullock and Council Member Douglas from this meeting. Proclamations and Recognitions Proc 17-18 National Manufacturing Day Proclamation Commerce City Page 1 City Council Meeting Minutes - Final October 2, 2017 City Attorney Sheesley read a proclamation declaring the first Friday in October as National Manufacturing Day. Economic development staff and members of the manufacturing community were on hand to accept the proclamation. A motion was made by Council Member McEldowney, seconded by Council Member Teter, that this proclamation be approved. Public Hearings Mayor Ford opened the public hearing on Conditional Use Permit Cases Commerce City Page 3 City Council Meeting Minutes - Final October 2, 2017 CU-81-08-10-12-17 and CU-82-08-101-12-17 combined. Planner Axmacher presented the case. She stated that the applicant, Rocky Mountain Recycling, is seeking to renew the two permits for the properties located at 6495 and 6591 Brighton Blvd. in order to continue operating a salvage yard. There are no signficant changes to either permits. The planning commission believes the location is still appropriate and the applicant has made signficant upgrades to the site. Applicant Brian Hennessy appeared before council. Mr. Hennesy stated that the company has been in Commerce City since 1936. No one came forward to speak in favor or opposition of the cases and the public hearing was closed. CU-81-08-10-12 CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR SALVAGE YARD OPERATIONS IN -17 CASE CU-81-08-10-12-17 A motion was made by Council Member McEldowney, seconded by Council Member Teter, that this conditional use permit be adopted. VOTE: Aye: 7- Mayor Ford, Council Member Carson, Council Member Teter, Council Member Elliott, Council Member McEldowney, Council Member Amador and Council Member Diaz Excused: 2- Mayor Pro Tem Bullock and Council Member Douglas CU-82-08-10-12 CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR SALVAGE YARD OPERATIONS IN -17 CASE CU-82-08-10-12-17 A motion was made by Council Member McEldowney, seconded by Council Member Amador, to accept the findings and recommendations of the planning commission. Administrative Council Business Council Member Diaz asked for council support of a resolution of support for the School District 27J ballot issue. Mayor Ford asked that Council Member Diaz's requeswt of support for a ballot issue be moved to a study session so that all of council can weigh in. Council Member Amador asked that staff stripe a center line down the Old Quebec from Highway 2 to 72nd Avenue. 12. Reports City Manager McBroom highlighted items off his weekly report sent to council earlier. The mayor and council reported on their attendance at meetings and events during the week. 13. Adjourn The meeting adjourned at 7:39 p.m. In accord with the city charter, the city attorney read the title to all ordinances and resolutions adopted by Council at this meeting.
