A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Commerce City was called to order
by Mayor Huseman on June 7, 2021, at 7:25 PM.
A motion was made by Council Member Allen-Thomas, seconded by Council Member
Grimes, to excuse members not present. VOTE: 8 - Aye, 1 - Excused (Frank)

21-86 Citizen Communication - City Council will conduct this meeting virtually
via Zoom as the Civic Center remains closed out of precaution for
COVID-19. There will be the opportunity for public comment at the
meeting during citizen communication and/or for each agenda item.
Comments may be consolidated under the Citizen Comment part of the
meeting. The public can submit their comments live during the meeting
via Zoom or in advance using the online form or mail. Visit

Steve Douglas spoke on weeds in the city, the Mile High Greyhound Park
development, and retail development in Commerce City.

A motion was made by Council Member Madera, seconded by Council Member

Environmental Policy Advisory Committee, environmental justice and equity role,
meetings and duration, long term citizen involvement, composition/structure,
recruitment, timeline, and questions for Council.

Noble, that this ordinance be amended at section 1 and section 4 to include
language from section 5.4 of the City Charter to change to an emergency
ordinance effective immediately once introduced by council as seated and

A motion was made by Council Member Allen-Thomas, seconded by Council Member
Noble, to have City staff draft a resolution to increase the membership of the Diversity,
Equity, and Inclusion Commission to allow for two voting members of Council with one
alternate to sit on the commission. VOTE: 7 - Aye, 1 - Nay (Madera), 1 - Excused
(Frank)

have a study session on fence policies throughout Commerce City for June 28th.

Water Quality Control Commission meeting on June 14th to support the rules regarding
the section of the South Platte River that flows through Commerce City. VOTE:
