Call to Order/Roll Call A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Commerce City was called to order by Mayor Huseman on October 24, 2022, at 6:00 PM. Present: 8 - Mayor Benjamin Huseman, Mayor Pro Tem Jennifer Allen-Thomas, Council Member Oscar Madera, Council Member Rick Davis, Council Member Susan Noble, Council Member Craig Hurst, Council Member Sean Ford and Council Member Kristi Douglas 2. City Council At-Large Applicant Presentations 22-174 City Council At-Large Applicant Presentations The following applicants presented before City Council: Ramon Alvarado Craig Kim Genisi Pennie Jose Guardiola Jacob Sawaged Hillary Leitch Luz E. Molina Shenika Carter 3. Reception A thirty-minute meet and greet was held in the atrium with Council, applicants, and the public. 4. At-Large Applicant Selection & Swearing-In A motion was made by Council Member Noble, seconded by Council Member Douglas, to modify the process to have Council select their top three candidates to determine as finalists . VOTE: 5 - Aye, 3 - Nay (Davis, Madera, Ford) After the first round of voting, the finalists were Ramon Alvarado, Craig Kim, and Jose Guardiola. Commerce City Page 1 City Council Meeting Minutes - Final October 24, 2022 After four rounds of voting, the Council was tied between Craig Kim and Jose Guardiola. A motion was made by Mayor Pro-Tem Allen-Thomas, seconded by Noble, to select the finalist by coin flip. VOTE: 6 - Aye, 2 - Nay (Davis, Hurst) Craig Kim was allowed to call the coin in the air and called tails. The coin landed on tails, and Craig Kim was selected as the finalist for the vacancy. A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Allen-Thomas, seconded by Council Member Noble, to appoint Craig Kim to the City Council At-Large seat. VOTE: Unanimous, all present affirmed. Craig Kim was sworn-in by Mayor Huseman and took their seat at the dais. 5. Adjourn The meeting adjourned at 7:40 PM. _________________________________ Dylan A.
