Call To Order/Roll Call - 6:00 PM Chair Jen Martin called meeting to order at 6:04pm. Attendees: Jen Martin, Ronna Sanchez, Jackie Riggs Gonzales, Nick Gonzales, Jan Cruz, Tyler Vitello, Omar Lozano, Cynthia Montes, Jade Humphries, Kelly Reyos, Deana Hall Absent: Councilmembers Kristi Douglas and Susan Noble, Members Augusta Jonhart and Linda Barr. 2. Approval of Minutes Min 24-164 Minutes of the August 20, 2024 meeting Deana Hall moved to approve the last meeting's minutes. Ronna Sanchez seconded the motion, which was approved unanimously. 3. Public Comment none 4. Subcommittee Reports A. Hispanic Heritage Subcommittee shared event details. Staff will go buy extra craft materials for the table, as well as bring some printed materials. i. Public Art Staff provided update on art calls. Ronna Sanchez brought up ensuring that all funds for the traffic control cabinets are used, since that project was grant funded. Commerce City Page 1 Cultural Council Meeting Minutes - Final September 17, 2024 C. Art Exhibitions Jen Martin shared update, and mentioned wanting to do more work within the subcommittee. Group expressed interest in wanting to discuss subcommittees and their projects more at next month's retreat. 5. Monthly Business A. Grants & Finance SCFD Awards are coming up. The council has a large balance as a result from COVID carryover funds. Group discussed potentially taking stage and sound contracts for Music in the Park back over from the city. B. Collaboration & Outreach Group discussed wanting to brainstorm about this more at the upcoming retreat. C. Recruitment & Engagement Group shared what drew them in to join, and what keeps them engaged. This topic will be discussed more at next month's retreat, but it was expressed that the board is full and will have the same group of people for the next couple years, which will create a lot of momentum. D. Reminder for Volunteer Hours 6. New Business Group discussed response for artists reaching out wanting to install artwork, and decided they still need to create a process for these inquiries. This led to a larger discussion about compiling resources to share with the community in different ways. Music in the Park 2025 dates were selected (6/12, 6/26, 7/10, and 7/24) Fall Fest was discussed as a tabling opportunity. The group decided not to participate this time, but wanted to discuss tabling opportunities in greater detail at next month's planning retreat. 7. October Retreat/Regular Meeting Schedule Ronna Sanchez moved to cancel the 10/15 regular meeting in lieu of having their annual planning retreat on 10/19. Jade Humphries seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Agenda items: review bylaws, set goals/budget, select subcommittees for projects, create a project bucket list to reference, review full calendar of events to brainstorm participation. B. Invitation to City Council Presentation Jen Martin invited the group to attend the annual presentation to City Council on Monday. Many expressed that they would join virtually. 8.
