1. Call To Order/Roll Call
Meeting was called to order at 6:03pm.
Present: Councilmember Douglas, Jen Martin, Jackie Riggs-Gonzales, Nick
Gonzales, Omar Lozano, Augusta Jonhart, Deana Hall, Jade Humphries-Graves, Emily
Perez, and Carlos Jimenez.
Absent: Mayor Pro Tem, Ronna Sanchez, Tyler Vitello, and Kelly Reyos
2. Community Time
a. Welcome New Members: Emily & Carlos
Everyone introduced themselves and shared what they were excited about for spring.
Councilmember Douglas, Deana Hall & staff shared about the upcoming Women's
History Month celebration for DEI Commission. They are showing League of their Own
at Bison Ridge on Sunday, 3/23 at 2pm. All are welcome!
3. Approval of Minutes
Min 25-069 February Meeting Minutes
Jackie moved to approve February's meeting minutes. Nick seconded the motion,
which was approved unanimously.
4. Grants & Finance Monthly Update
Updates were given by staff liaison that were sent from Ronna. QCF and SCFD grants
have been submitted.
5. Subcommittee Reports
Overview of subcommittee structure was given to new members.
a. Music in the Park
All four bands, locations, dates are secured as well as stage & sound. City will offer
free food (main course & dessert) and resources at all four events.

b. Public Art & Art Exhibitions
Overview of two open art calls were shared, as well as the public art selection process.
The committee shared that they have a lot of ideas and is now in the process of editing
those big ideas. Councilmember Douglas offered the idea of selling artwork for 50%
proceeds.
i. Update on Sand Creek Greenway Installment
The donated artwork from Sand Creek Regional Greenway was approved for installation
on 3/17. Contracts are being sent, and installation will start once paperwork is
complete. Sand Creek and staff will work together to organize a celebration for the
artists and families.
ii. Master Plan Adjustments
Staff has identified some gaps in the public art master plan, most notably an
opportunity to improve the funding mechanism. Staff and Cultural Council members will
work together in the coming months to edit the master plan and propose to City
Council for approval.
c. Community Engagement & Partnerships
This committee also shared they have big visions and are now in the editing phase.
The committee asked for input on their involvement in Juneteenth for this year. After
brainstorming and discussion, the group looked at the budget to realize what they were
able to offer.
Jen moved to allocate $150 towards sponsoring the spades tournament at Juneteenth,
which would cover prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Deana seconded the motion,
which was approved unanimously.
The group expressed finding grant funding for future years to increase their outreach
capabilities.
Staff will take inventory of existing swag.
Augusta expressed how they liked having speakers and talking through black history
in Commerce City at that event, and hope they bring it back. Councilmember Douglas
offered the idea of honoring Edna Anderson, a member of one of the first black
families here in the city.
6. New Business
The group asked about removing the Christmas banners from around the city.
7. Adjourn
Meeting was adjourned at 7:39pm.
