Call To Order/Roll Call/Pledge of Allegiance Meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm Members Present: Clark Berggren, Brendan Binns, Mary Hogan Chan, Bruce Emery, Alejandro Garcia Josh Houde, Justin Maillet, Bret Walker, Paul Welander, Jacob Wilson Absent: Steve Davis, Steve Douglas, Adam Venanzi Staff present: Chad Redin, Paul Hebinck, Brennan Mendus, Maria Jepson Let the record show Member Walker joined the meeting at 6:02 p.m. 2. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Member Welander seconded by Member Chan to approve the October 15, 2019 minutes as submitted. VOTE: Unanimous. The motion passed. This was approved 3. New Business 19-54 Risk Management Presentation - Brennan Mendus - Nov 19 Attachments: RISK MANAGEMENT PRESENTATION Brennan Mendus, Risk Manager for the City, shared a presentation regarding the role of the Risk Management department, the various forms of insurance carried, data and examples from the City’s claims history, and how Safety and Prevention are promoted at all levels. Over the last several years the City’s premiums have decreased consistently with reductions in the overall number of claims. The incident investigations, training, and safety reinforcement provided have resulted in over a 50% reduction in claims over the last three years. In addition to all the things that the Risk Manager handles on a day-to-day basis, staff are encouraged to utilize and develop safety programs and training. Additionally, there is a focus for City staff to recognize and participate in monthly safety activities. The slogan “Safety Never Sleeps” is visible on items that are interacted with daily and Commerce City Page 1 Parks, Recreation, and Golf Meeting Minutes - Final November 19, 2019 Advisory Committee incentives are offered for completing ongoing safety puzzles and trainings. The Risk Manger is an internal role. The emergency areas that impact the residents and general public such as flooding, tornados, snowstorms or other unexpected events are handled separately by the City’s Emergency Manager. This Administrative Business was discussed and closed 4. City Council Member Updates Unavailable 19-73 City Council Meeting December 2 - new Mayor and City Council Members (there will be 2 new appointees to the PRG Advisory Committee) 5. Committee Member Reports & Information Second Creek Open Space restoration work began in October 120th Avenue Overpass striping is done QCF Paint and Sip event was on 10/25/19. Great program that assists in funding scholarships. Options are now being considered for a spring fundraiser. Project Present underway and getting a wonderful response so far. The submissions are being claimed as fast as they are made available. Great response from the public. 6. PRG Announcements Distributed to all members via email on November 12, 2019 and available on www.c3gov.com. 7.
