Call To Order/Roll Call Meeting called to order at 3:04 p.m. Present: Carole Harvell, George Maxey, Carol Taylor-Boyd, Tillie Villareal, Carli Plummer, Tina Ledesma, Bruce Reilly, Councilwoman Susan Noble, Jennie Loveridge, Councilwoman Jennifer Allen-Thomas, Myrna Ferguson Absent: Gabriela Adeshewo, Mary K Natho Guests: Cheryl Steinberg, Carolyn Keith, Kim Mitchell 2. Approval of Minutes Minutes 01/14/2021 Attachments: Minutes Motion to approve minutes by commissioner Taylor-Boyd. Seconded by commissioner Plummer. Minutes were approved. 3. New Business Guest Carolyn Keith asked the commissioners to share their thoughts on their proposed position, "community navigator" specifically to seniors. Members shared that this position could serve as the following for community members: - a person who can meet one on one with seniors to address issues and refer to resources. - a person who could potentially go out in the community to get those seniors who may not have the means to come to them or may not have access to the internet. - a person who could give guidance and walk through with seniors on where to even go to find resources specific to their needs. - a person that could serve in the capacity of a case worker or something similar. Cheryl Steinberg and Kim Mitchell presented an annual allocation of over $400,000 in federal funding through the Community Development Block Grant program. The City is now developing a 5-year plan to guide the expenditure of those funds through 2025. Commissioners were asked a series of questions to better help the city identify needs of the seniors. 2021 priorities conversation will resume next meeting.
