Call to Order Vice Chair Velasco-Zubia called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m. Secretary Aliyah Acevedo was also in attendance. Present 10 - Commissioner Christina Wickersheim, Commissioner Desiree Kennison, Commissioner Isabela Velasco-Zubia, Commissioner Laura Hellewell, Commissioner Megan Pham, Commissioner Michael Kelley, Commissioner Olivia Cordero, Commissioner Paia Martinez, Commissioner René Bullock, and Commissioner Travis Watkins Absent 5 - Commissioner Cobe Koonce, Commissioner Keegan Jones, Commissioner Kenia Prieto, Council Member Kristi Douglas, and Commissioner Morgan Smith 2. Guest Speaker: Kristen Marrs, South Adams County Fire Department The Guest Speaker was postponed due to weather. 3. Approval of Minutes Min 22-308 Meeting Minutes of Oct. 20, 2022 Commissioner Kennison made a motion to approve the minutes of the Oct. 20, 2022 meeting. Commissioner Bullock seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. Commerce City Page 1 Youth Commission Meeting Minutes - Final November 17, 2022 4. New Business: A. Holiday Service Project: Project Present Staff Liaison, Leslie Yang, provided details on a volunteer opportunity to support Project Present. B. Holiday Celebration Logistics Staff Liaison, Jenny Penoncello, facilitated a discussion with Commissioners on the logistics of the Youth Commission Holiday Celebration. C. Water/Wastewater Tour Commissioner Bullock presented an opportunity to tour the Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants. The Commissioners expressed interest in the tours. Staff Liaison, Jenny Penoncello, shared information on the City's Christmas Tree Lighting. The Commission determined they would volunteer at the event. 5. Old Business: A. By-Laws Approval Commissioner Kennison made a motion to approve the Youth Commission By-Laws. Commissioner Cordero seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. B. Calendar Review The Commission discussed upcoming events, as well as the Cherry Creek Diversity Conference in January. 6. Other Business Staff Liaison, Leslie Yang, asked the Commissioners to complete the TGYS Grant Survey to support Parks, Recreation and Golf. Staff Liaison, Jenny Penoncello, presented the 2023 draft budget. Commissioner Kennison made a motion to approve the 2023 budget. Commissioner Kelly seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. Commissioners Kelly and Hellewell shared about scholarship opportunities. 7.
