Call to Order Commissioner Acevedo called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m. Present 9 - Commissioner Aliyah Acevedo, Commissioner Christina Wickersheim, Commissioner Laura Hellewell, Commissioner Megan Pham, Commissioner Michael Kelley, Commissioner Morgan Smith, Commissioner Olivia Cordero, Commissioner René Bullock, and Commissioner Travis Watkins Absent 7 - Commissioner Cobe Koonce, Commissioner Desiree Kennison, Commissioner Isabela Velasco-Zubia, Commissioner Keegan Jones, Commissioner Kenia Prieto, Council Member Kristi Douglas, and Commissioner Paia Martinez 2. Guest Speaker: Kristen Marrs, South Adams County Fire Department Guest Speaker, Kristen Marrs, presented on her career in the South Adams County Fire Department. Commissioner Bullock and Chair Smith arrived. 3. Approval of Minutes Min 23-023 Minutes of the Nov. 17, 2022 meeting Commissioner Acevedo noted that her name was left off the attendance. Commissioner Bullock made a motion to approve the minutes as corrected. Commissioner Acevedo seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. 4. Monthly Budget Update Staff Liaison, Jenny Penoncello, presented a monthly budget update. Commerce City Page 1 Youth Commission Meeting Minutes - Final January 5, 2023 5. New Business: A. 2022 - 2023 Goal Review & Spring Planning The Commission reviewed the status of their 2022-2023 goals, and brainstormed service projects. It was determined that potential service projects would be discussed further at the next meeting. B. Spring 2023 Calendar Review Staff Liaison, Leslie Yang, shared upcoming volunteer opportunities. Additionally, Chair Smith reviewed upcoming events with the Commission. C. Meeting Time Discussion It was determined Youth Commission meetings would stay at 6:30 p.m. 6. Old Business: A. Cherry Creek Diversity Conference Attendees The Commission discussed who would attend the Cherry Creek Diversity Conference. Transportation to the event was discussed. 7. Other Business Commissioner Hellewell suggested talking with the City's Sustainability Director about potential projects. 8. Adjourn Chair Smith adjourned the meeting at 7:59 p.m. Commerce City Page 2
