Call to Order Vice Chair Velasco-Zubia called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m. Present 11 - Commissioner Desiree Kennison, Commissioner Isabela Velasco-Zubia, Council Member Kristi Douglas, Commissioner Laura Hellewell, Commissioner Megan Pham, Commissioner Michael Kelley, Commissioner Morgan Smith, Commissioner Olivia Cordero, Commissioner Paia Martinez, Commissioner René Bullock, and Commissioner Travis Watkins Absent 5 - Commissioner Aliyah Acevedo, Commissioner Christina Wickersheim, Commissioner Cobe Koonce, Commissioner Keegan Jones, and Commissioner Kenia Prieto 2. Ice Breaker Staff Liaison, Leslie Yang, led an ice breaker. Chair Smith and Commissioner Kennison arrived to the meeting. 3. Approval of Minutes Min 23-033 Minutes of Jan. 5, 2023 Meeting Commissioner Bullock made a motion to approve the minutes of the Jan. 5,2023 meeting. Commissioner Cordero seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. 4. PRG Spring Overview This was postponed to a future meeting due to technical difficulties. 5. New Business Commissioner Bullock acknowledged the volunteers for helping at the Tres Reyes event. At Commissioner Kelley's request, the Commissioners discussed potential Earth Day events for April. Cherry Creek Diversity Conference Logistics Staff Liaison, Jenny Penoncello, outlined the logistics for the Cherry Creek Diversity Conference. B. Service Project Discussion Staff Liaison, Leslie Yang, presented a proposal for the Youth Commission to host a blood drive in June 2023. The Commissioners discussed. Councilwoman Douglas made a motion to host a blood drive in the summer or 2023. Commissioner Kennison seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. 7. Other Business Councilman Kim introduced himself to the Youth Commission. Commissioner Hellewell suggested the student members attend Chamber of Commerce events. Commissioner Bullock presented opportunities to get involved. 8. Adjourn Chair Smith adjourned the meeting at 7:27 p.m. Commerce City Page 2
