The Historic Preservation Board will be holding its Regular Meeting on Wednesday,
April 21, 2021, commencing at 4:00 pm.
While the City is back to live in-person meetings, members of the public are still
required to participate via the Zoom platform used by the Historical Preservation
Board for live remote comments.
Members of the public may join the meeting via Zoom at
https://us06web.zoom.us/j/81280163832.
In addition, a dedicated phone line will be available so that any individual who does
not wish (or is unable) to use Zoom may listen to and participate in the meeting by
dialing: (305) 461-6769 Meeting ID: 812 8016 3832.
To speak on an Agenda Item, please "Raise your Hand" or send a message to one of
the meeting hosts using the Zoom Platform. If you joined the meeting via telephone
you can "Raise your Hand" by pressing *9.
Any person wishing to provide testimony during the public hearing must be sworn in
and appear by video conference.
An individual who wishes to testify but does not have video conference capabilities,
may provide testimony by using a dedicated station for video conferencing located in
the City Hall courtyard.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL PERSONS MUST WEAR A FACIAL COVERING/MASK
EXCEPT WHEN PROVIDING TESTIMONY AND ALL PERSONS MUST MAINTAIN 6
FEET BETWEEN EACH OTHER.
The meeting will also be broadcasted live for members of the public to view on the
City’s website (www.coralgables.com/cgtv) as well as Channel 77 on Comcast.

VI LOCAL HISTORIC DESIGNATION
1. 21-2273 CASE FILE LHD 2021-001: Consideration of the local historic designation of the property
at 1544 Sopera Avenue, legally described as Lot 5, Block 55, Coral Gables Country Club
Section Part 4, according to the Plat thereof, as recorded in Plat Book 10, at Page 57 of
the Public Records of Miami-Dade County, Florida.
VII SPECIAL CERTIFICATES OF APPROPRIATENESS
1. 21-2274 CASE FILE COA (SP) 2021-002: An application for the issuance of a Special Certificate
of Appropriateness for the building currently on the University of Miami Main Campus
referred to as “Pentland House - Building 34” located at 1238 Dickinson Drive, legally
described as all of the “Apartment Building 34 (Pentland)” as now existing, laid out and in
use, the same being a portion of Tract 5 of Amended Plat Portion of Main Campus
University of Miami, according to the Plat thereof, as recorded in Plat Book 46 at Page
81 of the Public Records of Dade County (now Miami-Dade County), Florida. The
applicant is requesting approval for the replacement of the existing windows, interior
renovations, and the addition of an elevator tower.

2. 21-2275 CASE FILE COA (SP) 2021-003: An application for the issuance of a Special Certificate
of Appropriateness for the property at 603 Minorca Avenue, a Local Historic Landmark,
legally described as Lots 14 and 15, Block 18, Coral Gables Section “B,” according to
the Plat thereof, as recorded in Plat Book 5, at Page 111 of the Public Records of
Miami-Dade County, Florida. The application requests design approval for additions and
alterations to the residence and sitework. A variance has also been requested from
Article 4, Section 101 (D) (4c) of the Coral Gables Zoning Code for the minimum rear
setback.
3. 21-2276 CASE FILE COA (SP) 2015-015 REVISED: An application for the issuance of a Special
Certificate of Appropriateness for the property at 6801 Granada Boulevard, a Local
Historic Landmark, legally described as Lot 1, Block 1, “Cartee Homestead II,” according
to the Plat thereof, as recorded in Plat Book 170, at Page 88 of the Public Records of
Miami-Dade County, Florida. The application requesting design approval for addition and
alterations to the residence, and the relocation of the swimming pool was approved with
conditions on January 21, 2016. This application requests after-the-fact design approval
for a revision to the approved Certificate of Appropriateness due to deviations from the
previously approved plans.
VIII ART IN PUBLIC PLACES FEE WAIVER
1. 21-2277 An application for a Waiver of the Art in Public Places Fee, in accordance with Section
3-2103 (B) 3 of the City of Coral Gables Zoning Code, for the property located at 2901
Ponce de Leon Boulevard, a Local Historic Landmark, legally described as Tract “E” of
“PLAZA CORAL GABLES”, according to the plat thereof, as recorded in Plat Book 173 at
Page 78, of the Public Records of Miami-Dade County, Florida. The applicant is
requesting a recommendation of approval to waive the Art in Public Places Fee
requirement providing for the restoration of the historic resource in an amount equal to or
greater than the amount of the Art in Public Places Fee that otherwise would be required.

NOTE
Any person making impertinent or slanderous remarks or who become boisterous while
addressing the Board, shall be barred from further audience before the Board by the
Chair, unless permission to continue or again address the Board is granted by the
majority vote of the Board Members present. Clapping, applauding, heckling or verbal
outbursts or any remarks in support or opposition to a speaker shall be prohibited .
Signs or placards shall not be permitted in Commission Chambers.
Any person, who acts as a lobbyist pursuant to the City of Coral Gables Ordinance No .
2006-11, as amended, must register with the City Clerk prior to engaging in lobbying
activities before City Staff, Boards, Committees or City Commission. A copy of the
Ordinance is available in the Office of the City Clerk, City Hall. If a person decides to
appeal any decision made by a Board, Committee or City Commission with respect to
any matter considered at a meeting or hearing, that person will need to ensure that a
verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and
evidence upon which the appeal is to be based (F.S. 286.0105). Any meeting may be
opened and continued and, under certain circumstances, additional legal notice will not
be provided.
