a. General Updates
Director Fred Couceyro began his report by notifying the board members that the
first week of summer camp had commenced. He continued to provide budget updates
during what happened during the city commission's capital workshop. They are
currently waiting to see what happens next.
Vice Chair Jennifer Marquez is interested in additional information on summer
camps. Director Fred responded that a lot of camps were already full, and we still
have the country club summer camp, which recently received additional advertising
in the hopes of filling up as well.
b. Special Events
Director Couceyro proceeded to update the board on the forthcoming events for the
month of July, including The Coral Gables Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration –
Thursday, July 4 at 5 p.m. and Sensory Friendly Fourth of July - Thursday, July 4 at 5
p.m.
c. CIP Updates
Director Fred Couceyro continued his report with a brief update on the previous
community meetings on Blue Road, Nellie B. Moore Park, William & Leona Cooper
Park, and Phillips Park.
NEW BUSINESS
OLD BUSINESS
a. Catalonia Park evening activity
Director Couceyro stated that the Catalonia Park evening activity has come to an end
for the time being. A park ranger was dispatched to monitor the park, but they haven’t
shown up to the park. He remarked that he had not heard anything else. However,
they will keep an eye on it.
b. Youth Center overnight/ overflow parking
Deputy Director Carolina Vester informed the board members that they could
consider installing swing barriers, like they have at Biltmore Tennis. Chair Carlos
Hernandez proposed that we start with decals and have a staff member place them
overnight a couple of times to see if individuals cease parking at the youth center.
