a. General Updates
Supervisor Carlos Pichardo opened his report by discussing the fall programs
offered by the CG Youth Center, which include soccer, flag football, and volleyball.
Carlos Pichardo proceeded to provide an update on the soccer program, including
how the passing of the Director of Coaching affected the programming and how he
and Yanessa are filling in between the DOC and facility operations. They also did
DOC interviews. Carlos reminded the board members that they could contact him if
they are interested in volunteering hours for volleyball.
Carlos Pichardo brought up the Nightmare at 405 at the War Memorial Youth Center -
Tuesday, October 31st at 6:30 p.m. He advised the board members that if they need
volunteer hours, they should let him know.
Carlos Pichardo mentioned pickleball and how they had to temporarily close the
courts due to resurfacing the outside courts and courtyard, as well as the pavement
by gymnastics.

the event's point of contact.
c. Administrative Updates
Supervisor Espino informed the board members that the city had entered a new fiscal
year, which meant that we now had a new budget and could begin placing purchase

Advisory Board
Board member Angelica Santeliz inquired as to why the Youth Center didn't have an
Instagram account. Angelica feels that the Youth Center's varied programs, activities,
camps, and special events should be promoted through social media. Supervisor
Sarah Espino suggested moving this item to the Old Business section of the agenda
for the following month.

c. Selection of Board Member at Large
Supervisor Sarah Espino mentioned that the board must select a new
Board-as-a-whole member and that they must submit a résumé or a paragraph
explaining why they want to serve on the board. Sarah Espino suggested that
potential nominees submit their resumes before the next meeting, after which we will
disseminate resumes to the whole board, who will then analyze and choose their
seventh member. According to Supervisor Espino the City Clerk's office advised
applying online and sending applications through the portal, which we would then
distribute to the board. Sarah encouraged the board members to share the Boards
and Committees link with the possible nominees.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
Board member Alexa Tapanes would like additional information about the Gables
Family Literacy Festival date. According to Supervisor Carlos Pichardo, the event
took place in May. Board member Alexa inquired about the event to alert staff that
she is interested in the event because she recently released her first book. Carlos
Pichardo recommended her to send him an email and he will keep in touch for next
year's event since he is the event's point of contact.
