ALL IN FAVOR; PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. ROLL CALL a. Approval of December meeting minutes A MOTION TO APPROVE THE DECEMBER MEETINGS MINUTES WAS MADE BY ALEXA TAPANES AND WAS SECONED BY ANGELICA SANTELIZ. ALL IN FAVOR; PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. SUPERVISOR'S REPORT City of Coral Gables Page 1 Parks and Recreation Youth Meeting Minutes January 10, 2024 Advisory Board a. General Updates Supervisor Carlos Pichardo began his report by discussing the City of Coral Gables Farmers Market event, which will take place on Saturday, January 13th at 8:00 a.m. He updated the board members on how the youth center will have an informational booth at the farmer’s market event. Carlos Pichardo then provided the board with an update regarding the CG Youth Center's preparations for summer camp and upcoming spring sports. b. Special Events Supervisor Carlos Pichardo announced the Daddy Daughter Dance that will take place on Saturday, February 10th. Their theme this year will be Cherry Blossom Ball. For more details, please see our playgables.com website. Supervisor Carlos continued to announce forthcoming activities for the upcoming months, including the City of Coral Gables Easter Egg Hunt. c. Administrative Updates Administrative Assistant Susan quickly went over some of our upcoming events, which include the Coral Gables Farmers Market - Saturday, Jan 13 - Mar 30 at 8 a.m. and Movies Under the Gables Moonlight - Featuring Parent Trap – January 19 at 6 p.m. Susan notified the board that Community Recreation had gone over recent modifications. Our Special Projects Coordinator was promoted to an unfilled position at the Adult Activity Center. Until a replacement is found Susan will serve as the interim coordinator of special events. Board members who are interested in volunteering at any of our upcoming special events should inform us, and Susan will facilitate further information on the event. NEW BUSINESS OLD BUSINESS a. Selection of Board Member at Large Administrative Assistant Susan mentioned that the board must select a new Board-as-a-whole member and that they must submit a résumé or a paragraph explaining why they want to serve on the board. Susan suggested that potential nominees submit their resumes before the next meeting, after which we will disseminate resumes to the whole board, who will then analyze and choose their seventh member. According to Susan the City Clerk's office advised applying online and sending applications through the portal, which we would then distribute to the board. Susan encouraged the board members to share the Boards and Committees link with the possible nominees.
